Page 3: Welcome to the faith community of T. FRANCIS DE SALES · MASS INTENTIONS SATURDAY, November 28, 2015 8:00 a.m. Communion Service 5:15 p.m. Casey & Bertha Mikrut and Chuck Dunlap SUNDAY,

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK… Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Francis de Sales Parish, Today is the First Sunday of Advent, the beginning of a new liturgical year. The first reading today is from the Book of the Prophet Jeremiah, and begins with the words: “The days are coming, says the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and Judah.” (Jeremiah 33:14) It is a reading that foretells the coming of the Messiah, who will establish his reign of love, justice and peace. As Christians, we eagerly await the second coming of Christ, when the work that he began on earth through his teaching, healing, passion, death, and resurrection will be fulfilled. We await his coming not passively, but actively in our works of charity and justice, and in our lives of prayer and worship. Amidst the busyness of our preparation for Christmas – shopping, cleaning, decorating, baking – let us not forget to prepare our hearts by practicing patience, kindness, charity, and generosity. Let us pray in earnest for the coming of Christ into our hearts. May this season of Advent help us to extend God’s love to all we meet. God’s Blessings, Fr.
