Response

The response to the workshop was really excellent.

The hotel arrangement was enlarged from planned 45 to now 60 people, of 19 countries.

There is now also a significant fraction of young researchers. We were much pleased by the high interest expressed from this side.

Workshop Scheme

The workshop has regular talks. They are short (~ 12 min) and only 3 min for one or two specific questions are foreseen.

Some topics have keynote address talks. These are 30+10 min talks which introduce in a topic.

All talks shall be taken as contributions to the session topic from the presenter´s point of view.

The session is then ended with about 20 min discussion, followed by a break.

Workshop Objectives

As the name says, in a workshop something has to be manufactured or produced, namely the Outcome of the workshop.

This shall provide answers to the following questions that shall clarify where our working area stands.

• Which problems are considered to be ´challenging and exciting´ for the RGD community?

• Is the community interested in industrial jobs, which does often not mean to solve fundamental problems but to apply a known method with very great diligence lots of time effort, less publication.

• Does the industry really trust Vacuum Gas Dynamics predictions?• What shall be our next step? Schools, on-site courses, workshops,

topical conferences?

At the end of each day, there is a ´Summary of the day´ session to pick up the most interesting topics of the day and to assess the discussions in view of the questions above Round table on the last day.

Social Programme

The workshop goes until Thursday lunchtime.

On Tuesday, there will be an excursion to Speyer, a pretty and historic town (UNESCO world heritage) with a cathedral (largest Romanesque Church of the world) which features a crypt with the German emperors and kings of 10th and 11th century. The city tour will be organised as a walking dinner. Bus departure (~ 1h ride) is 16:00 sharp!

On Wednesday, there will be an outdoor wine tasting tour, starting from this hotel, through the vineyards.

Local Organisation

Each day we will have lunch together, buffet-style, in the main building. There will be a choice of three options (one will be veggie). Soft drinks are included.

On Monday we will have dinner here.

On Tuesday, we will have the dinner as part of our walking dinner event(Vegetarians have to announce this to me in the next coffee break).Always wear your badges!

On Wednesday, after the wine tour, we will have a great BBQ.

For those who would like to have the shuttle back to Landau Train Station on Thursday afternoon, we will distribute a list where you can indicate your preferred departure times.

If you hear a loud high noise, this is fire alarm, leave the building.

All you order at the bar (additional spirits, beer, wine or any other service) is under your own money!
