About the ClassOBJECTIVE:
In Physical Education, students acquire the knowledge and skills for movement that provide the foundation for
enjoyment, continued social development through physical activity, and access to a physically-active lifestyle. The
student exhibits a physically-active lifestyle and understands the relationship between physical activity and health
throughout the lifespan.
GPA:
This class will be calculated into your overall GPA so do your best.
Graduation:
You need one full year of this class for graduation credit.
Class Rules/Expectations
1. Attend All Teams Classes.
2. Turn in Assignments on time.
3. Participate in all activities.
4. Be Respectful online and in emails.
5. Know ALL Procedures and Requirements of the class.
What will I need for the class?
1. Good connection to the internet.
2. Proper clothing/hair ties/shoes.
3. Notebook & pen for taking notes.
4. Download the FitOn app.
5. Scale to weigh yourself. (every Monday)
6. Tape measure to take your measurements. (on the 1st day of each new Cycle)
TEAMS: Etiquette/ProceduresHow do I behave during a teams class?
● No class from the bed.
● No walking around with your laptop.
● Avoid drawing attention to yourself.
● No posting in chat during unsolicited times.
● No use of phones or texting during class.
● Avoid talking to others around you.
● No eating/chewing gum.
CONSEQUENCES:
➔ 1st time=warning
➔ 2nd time=parent contact,
conduct drop
➔ 3rd time=0 for the day
TEAMS: Preparation How do I prepare for a PE class on Teams?
★ Wi-fi working, laptop/headphones/phone charged.
★ Apps for class Downloaded
★ Is my Camera on/ Mic MUTED & working
★ Dressed in P.E. clothing: no pajamas, no jeans, no halter tops/long
hair-it must be pulled back.
★ NO WATER OR RR DURING WORKOUTS WILL BE ALLOWED.
★ Be in a well lit/distraction free area.
★ Create a regular workout space & have water nearby for class.

ABSENCESHow to I get Participation credit for an absence?
1. When you miss a Teams class, you will watch the recorded class & check the HUB for the
assignment/workout of the day.
2. Complete the assignment/workout for the day.
3. You will post this on the HUB in the “Makeup assignment folder under Resources” (until hub is merged,
you will email it to me).
4. How do I prove I completed the workout?
a. Screenshot the workout under Activity, copy/paste to a word doc.
5. When will my grade be changed?
After you complete the makeup assignment. Folder under Resources on HUB. Email me to let
me know you completed it.
1. How long do I have to makeup my absence? 1 week.
2. Test makeup: during your designated PE class or Office hours. (11:10-11:55am)
ILLNESS/INJURY/DISABILITY:
How do I get credit for participating in I have an injury or
physical disability?
1. You will participate in class however modify whatever workout we are doing to your
fitness level.
2. You will need to show up for the teams class as usual.
3. You will need to email me a note from a doctor.
IN PERSON STUDENT PROCEDURES
1. Use hand sanitizer on the way in.
2. Wipe down any seats (bleachers) & outlets
you will use.
3. Sit down 6-feet from other students.
4. Stay seated for stretches/roll call.
5. Workouts will be completed on the gym floor
marked out for you or 6-feet apart.
Fire Drill Procedures:
1. Stop what we are doing and line up 6 feet apart
from each other in front of the stairwell by the
locker rooms.
2. Stay apart and walk down to 1st floor.
3. Exit to the right, head to the area designated on
Pressler Street.
Lockdown Procedures:
1. When you hear, “intruder in the building” we will all
go to the women's locker room. We will stand 6
feet apart, away from the entrance, stay quiet and
wait for release.
COMMUNICATION: Emails
1. When should I email the coach?
Grading error, will be absent, or doctor’s appointment.

a. (Attendance) Students will complete an assignment on the hub to be
present that day.

designated PE class for full credit.

TECHNOLOGY ISSUES
1. What happens if my internet goes out in class and the teams call drops me?
Come back into teams. If persistent, check internet connection.
1. What if my laptop dies in the middle of class?
You will get a 0 until the class is made up.
1. What if my camera isn’t working and my mic won’t unmute?
Email Mr. Ivan Rivas @ [email protected] and include me on the email for
proof. You will receive a 0 in class if this is persistent.

GRADING: Participation(40%) Points Breakdown
Out of 100 points
1. You will receive one participation grade weekly
which is an average of your daily grades.
2. Showing up on Teams Call with camera on &
being visible for workout=50/100
3. Participating in Exit Tickets, posting in chat,
answering correctly when called upon.=50/100
4. When absent=0 until made up.
5. -10 to 50 points for each violation.
TARDIES:
★ 5-10 minutes late=-10
★ Late for class-after 15 minutes = -50
points
★ Leaving class before dismissed will result
n a 0.
★ Being late more than twice will result in a
conduct drop, and parent contact.
THE HISD HUB:
★ This is where announcements will be (where I will communicate with you mostly)
★ This is where all objectives/lessons/assignments/tasks will be posted under Resources.
★ If the HUB is down, we may move to the Teams Chat Box for class updates and
announcements. (I will be alerted if it is down)
★ Tests will usually be on the Hub.
GRADING/Assignments (40%): HUB
1. Assignments will be given in an excel or word document for you to fill out and submit (no google drive
links).
2. How do I know what to do for an assignment? Assignments will have the directions in the actual
assignment.
3. Before submitting an assignment, ensure you have the correct document to submit, not the blank one.
4. The Hub assignments will have a deadline, day and time. Check grading rubric for points.
5. Assignments will close for submission after 7 days (1 week) No assignments accepted after 1 week.
6. What if my internet crashes at the time of submission? (same rules apply).
7. What if I submit the wrong assignment? To resubmit- it will cost you 15 points.
8. Where can I find these assignments? On the HUB course for PE, under “Resources”
9. Can I just email the Coach my assignment if the assignment is closed? NO. No emailed
assignments will be taken.
Other Assignment Requirements:
1. All assignments are to be submitted through HUB.
2. Points will be take off for late grades.
3. No assignments will be taken after 1 week.
4. Turn in quality work: Write/speak in full sentences and proper grammar.
5. Submit Assignments in this format (Name_Class Period_Name of

Class Schedule
Synchronous Learning: (1st 35-40 minutes)
1. Arrive to Teams class. I will let you in the class. While you wait for attendance- you will complete a
flexibility workout or meditation. Roll call-(10 minutes)
2. We will go over the Objectives, lesson, read an article etc.
3. Students will complete the exit ticket or task.
Asynchronous Learning: (last 60-80 minutes)
1. Students will complete the assignment and complete the daily workout.
2. Students may ask questions or makeup an absence.
More on things to know...
➔ Grades will be updated in a timely manner, minimum of two per week.
➔ Assignments turned in on time have first priority to be graded.
➔ Grades will be changed once late work is submitted.
➔ You will have one week from absence to complete all makeup work.
➔ There are more than 200 students in my course, so please be patient with grades being
entered/updated.
➔ When I put a grade in on PTP-you can see in “notes” the reason for the point deduction.
➔ Join Teams from your Laptop NOT phone.
➔ You will take your weight, height and circumference measurements so have these
items available, Deadline: Monday-2/8
