WISDOM From DEE HOCK
Hire and promote first on the basis of integrity, second,
motivation, third, capacity, fourth, understanding, fifth
knowledge, last and least, experience.
• Without integrity, motivation is dangerous
• Without motivation, capacity is impotent
• Without capacity, understanding is limited
• Without knowledge, experience is blind
• Experience is easy to provide and quickly put to good
use with the other qualities.

Every Parent a Supportive Partner
“Every parent, hopes for his child to grow up to be
at his best. We share the same goal. When
parents, teachers and the community work
together. We multiply our efforts to make every
student an engaged learner. We multiply the
domains in which our children can find success.
We multiply the pathways to success and indeed
together we create new pathways to success.”

Rationale of Integration of Students
• to promote greater interaction between
GEP and non-GEP students,
• to allow them to learn, work and play
together on a daily basis
• to allow them to maintain regular contact
and develop closer bonds with each other
through meaningful shared experiences.
No part of this material may be reproduced in any form or by any means without written permission from the school.
The School of Tomorrow, Today
Benefits of Integration of Students
• More intellectually stimulating as a result
of learning with like-minded learners
• Greater appreciation and respect for
intellectual diversity
• Exposure to GE resources, pedagogical
approaches and teachers
No part of this material may be reproduced in any form or by any means without written permission from the school.
The School of Tomorrow, Today
Integration Approach
• A core of enriched GEP subjects (including
English Language, Mathematics and Science) is
taught in separate GEP classes;
• Students in integrated classes are comparable
in ability so that learning is optimised;
No part of this material may be reproduced in any form or by any means without written permission from the school.
The School of Tomorrow, Today
Integration Approach
• Schools have the latitude to decide which
subjects, and the number of subjects they
would like to include in integrated classes of
GEP and non-GEP students. On average, GEP
and non-GEP pupils would spend about one
quarter of their curriculum time together on a
weekly basis.

Sekolah
Mo Kio Avenue 5 hingga pegubahsuaian tempat asal selesai.

P5 GIFT: Investigative Work in Science Module
Chloe and her family are having a holiday
in a remote part of Southern Australia.
Seeing a huge body of water, her dad
decided to take a swim.
“Hold on, Dad!” says Chloe. “I remember
reading that Great White Sharks are
prevalent in the waters of Southern
Australia… let’s not swim here.”
“Aren’t sharks found in the sea? This does
not look like the sea to me.” says Chloe’s
dad.
“I have an idea! Let’s find out the salinity of
the water to make sure.” says Chloe. “I’ve
learnt this during Science lessons.”
P5 GIFT: Writing Workshop
… he is attracted by the majestic beauty of the grove where an old banyan tree stands sheltering many blossoming trees. Their intoxicating perfume mingled with a soft cool breeze pleases him and he stands there dumbfounded.
