However, ourbiggest motivation is removingbarriers to learning. Workingtogether we can provide musicalopportunities that will inspire a life-long love of music and ensure thatevery child in Liverpool is able toaccess great music in schools.

Welcome to Resonate!Last year was a hugely successfulyear for Resonate, having workedwith over 14,000 young musiciansthroughout the year to develop theirmusical skills. 90% of all Liverpoolschools accessed support fromResonate and our increasinglypopular whole class instrumentalprogramme involved 8,629 pupilshaving their first go at learning aninstrument.

A programme for primary school musiccoordinators and support teachers,designed to facilitate the developmentof leadership of music within schoolsand to strengthen the delivery of musicacross the primary phase.

The programme will provide theopportunity to focus on:

■ A shared understanding of the latestnational developments and bestpractice exemplified in the Ofstedreport “Music in schools: wider still, and wider”;

■ A shared understanding of the corepurpose and generic skills of musicsubject leaders;

■ Effective strategies to strengthen thedelivery of music in primary schools;

■ Opportunities to consider how aschool might organise music as partof a broad and balanced curriculum;

■ Effective strategies to secure planning for progression andassessment in music;

■ An exploration and support in thedelivery of the new NationalCurriculum for Music;

We work closely with SchoolImprovement Liverpool to supportthe development of music in schools.In the last few years, half of allprimary and special schools haveaccessed our DevelopingLeadership of Music programme.


AimResonate has placed significantinvestment in instrumental and vocalprogrammes in Key Stage 2, resulting in7,642 pupils regularly playing a musicalinstrument.

In order to sustain this provision into KeyStage 3 we are inviting Liverpoolsecondary schools to access ourinvestment fund to deliver innovativeprojects that engage large numbers ofstudents in regular musical activities,and to support schools in deliveringhigh quality instrumental/vocal lessons.

What does the fund provide?Resonate will manage an investmentfund to support all Liverpool maintainedsecondary schools and academies indelivering instrumental programmestargeted at KS3 students. We expect toaward grants of up to £1,500 per schoolto deliver their programme.

Musicians in SchoolImmerse your pupils in a world of sound,music and multi-sensory experienceswith our trained musicians who will bringextra life to your music curriculum.

Our musicians/tutors will offer hands-onpractical music lessons working withindividual pupils, small groups orclasses (with support). Explore thebuilding blocks of music such ascommunicating through sound, usingmusic to express feelings and mood,and creating songs and musicalsoundscapes.

Band-its Project Teamwork, confidence building andmusical understanding are at the heartof these sessions and will inspire youngpeople on their musical journey.

Our rock and pop musicians will supportyour school in developing band skills,song-writing skills and performancetechniques.

Working with National LeadersResonate has attracted the investmentof a number of national leaders of musicin special schools including DaDaFest,Drake Music and Live Music Now.Together we deliver exciting projectsand school showcases that impact onhundreds of pupils.

Delivered by experienced musicteachers who will work with your Y12/13students to realise their potential asyoung musicians.

Our partners, the Liverpool Philharmonicwill bring set works alive through masterclasses, “in conversation with’” sessionsand composition workshops all designedto develop student understanding andexperience of inspirational music.

Resonate centre is equipped with over25 iMacs, running Logic and Sibelius tosupport creative composition skills.

The course is designed to extend theGCSE music skills of performing,composing and listening.
