end of January 19th - 20th. Here's the schedule:
** Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will
take place at the end of the 7:30 morning Mass
on Saturday, January 19th, and will continue until
5:30 p.m., when there will be a brief closing pray-
er service.
** Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will
take place again at the end of the 9:30 morning
Mass on Sunday, January 20th, and continue until

A potluck supper will follow the Solemn Closing

The Musings of Our Pastor A "zest" for travel is not something that has dominated my life or shaped my life a great deal over the years. Travel for leisure and vacations was just not in the mix of family life for me as a youngster, mostly because Dad's work and limited family financial resources got in the way of such travel. Over my 40 years of priestly ministry, there were times, when I would schedule myself for some professional continuation of educa-tion programs in faraway places, which would allow me, at the same time, to have a few days for leisurely travel and vacation. When it comes to trav-el, though, my most memorable experiences are connected with the 5 mis-sion outreach excursions I made to Guatemala, along with people from St. Anthony, St. Joseph and St. Peter Parishes in the Fort Recovery area. In a similar way, a mission outreach excursion to Tanzania, Africa, with some people in Kalida, OH, was marvelously life-enriching for many reasons! As a rule, though, I don't have a big "zest" or appetite for travel in my life! Having said that, there is a bit of admiration in me for the Magi or the Astrologers, who are celebrated on this Feast of the Epiphany for the risky bit of travel that they embraced in their search for the Newborn King of the Jews. It really was not authentic faith that got the Astrologers to load up their camels and go on what some might have deemed to be a "wild goose chase"! It was not leisurely travel intended for vacation and sightseeing, because the Magi did not know where exactly the radiance of the star might lead them, how long or at what cost it would take to get there, and they really had no certainty that they would even find the Newborn King. As they began their travel under the guidance of the Star of Bethle-hem, the Astrologers may have struggled with the uneasy feeling that the roads they were about to travel might not, in fact, ever bring them back to their beloved home again! Something pulled them in the direction of Christ, the Newborn King of the Jews, and they set out with a passionate, resolute determination to find what was tugging at their hearts in such a big way! Do we not, in a variety of ways and situations, experience something pulling us in the direction of Christ, the Fountain of Wisdom and Life? We can't always name it or put our finger on what exactly it is, but we most definitely experience something pulling us for some reason in the direction of Christ. Isn't this true? The journey of faith may pull us, oftentimes, toward Christ and his marvelous graces of conversion, healing, and new life. The journey of faith may pull us, at times, toward Christ and some new type of ministry, leadership, or to some new level of Christian commitment. Am I willing to invest whatever is necessary, like the Magi, to "seek out" Christ and to reap the abundant blessings which flow lavishly from his divine and ever-loving heart? O Christ, we adore you with our prayers, and with our daily actions
rooted in your own goodness and love. —Fr. Ken

Health Issues? If you are having some serious
health issues, anticipating major
surgery, or are at “risk” from some of
the realities of old age, Father Ken
ought to be contacted to celebrate
with you the Sacrament of the Sick.
This can be done after Mass
sometime or it may be done during a
home visit. Whenever parish
members are in an area hospital for a
particular period of time, please
notify the parish office, so Father Ken
can make a pastoral visit if at all
possible. Given the privacy of infor-
mation governing hospitals, it is up to
the family to notify the Pastor about
such needs or desires. The pastoral
care of the sick and the dying is a
most important responsibility for
Father Ken. Please be sure to make
your needs or the needs of a family
member known to him if necessary.
