Autism Spectrum Disorder Training: Increasing and Improving Speech/Communication Skills
in Non-vocal or Minimally Vocal Children
Presenter: Sandee Lee Hiller
Objectives:
Language delays constitute the hallmark of Autism. These language delays have a direct impact on a host of other important skills such as cognition, play, social and adaptive behaviours. Therefore the most important aspect of any intervention program is the development of effective communication skills. For non-verbal children who have failed to develop speech, their effective communication can often consist of disruptive behaviour, aggression, and even self-injury. This workshop will provide participants with the skills to conduct a functional communication assessment and develop an individualized alternative communication intervention, which meets the learner’s communication and-social needs.
Tuesday, Feb 16, 2016 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
New videoconferences are scheduled on a continual basis throughout the year. For a complete list of the videoconferences
available at DSRC, please visit our website at www.dscwr.com
