Why run a workshop?
• To give you an insight to the activities that your children take part in Nursery
• To emphasise the importance of maths from such a young age – getting it right from the start!
• To allow you the opportunity to take part in the activities along side your child – Maths is fun!
• To give you an idea of expectations as your child develops in age
• To give you a resource pack and suggest ways you can support your child at home
What is expected at the end of Nursery?
Number:
• Recites numbers in order to 10
• Matches numeral and quantity correctly (1-10)
• Separates a group of objects different ways and recognises the total is still the same.
• Begins to represent numbers by marks, fingers or numerals
Shape, Space and Measure:
• To use positional language
• To show an interest in shapes in the environment
• To show an interest in shape through construction activities or making arrangements
