Staggered Start: August 13, 14, 15, & 18 The first four days are staggered start days. The kids will be completing various language arts and math assessments, as well as getting to know a few of their classmates. This will give your child an opportunity to get acclimated to the classroom setting.
If you have not signed up please see your child’s teacher before you leave.
First Day of School The first day of school for kindergarten is Tuesday, August 19. If you have any problems with, or questions about, the bus, please call Petermann Transportation at 614-837-8525.
Arrival- On the first day of school we will meet in the Media Center. This is where you will get your pictures and say good bye.
Dismissal- PLEASE make sure we know how your child is going home.
First Day of SchoolAM Dismissal
All students will be dismissed out the main school doors and will be accompanied to their buses, cars, and daycares. If you are waiting for a walker or bike rider, please stand by the bike racks until your child’s name is called by their teacher.
Please permit the buses and daycare vans to pull into the lane. Once the buses and daycare vans arrive you may pull in behind them.
AM Kindergarten dismissal is at 12:00. Please do not arrive prior to 11:45 for pick up.
First Day of School PM Drop Off
Kindergarten students will be dropped off at the main door and greeted by a kindergarten teacher and our wonderful aide, Mrs. Tolford. Please permit the buses and daycare vans to pull into the lane in front of the school first. If you are dropping off your child, please pull in behind them.
Please do not drop your child off in the middle of the parking lot. This is a safety issue.
PM Kindergarten students may not be dropped off any earlier than 12:50.
First Day of SchoolPM Dismissal
If your child is a car pick up, you will need to get into the long line in front of the school and patiently wait for your child to be dismissed by the teacher on duty.
If your child is a walker, you will need to go to the front left side door. There will be a teacher who dismisses your child to you. If you choose to have your child walk home unaccompanied by an adult, he/she will wait until all of the other walkers who are accompanied by an adult leave. The teacher on duty will then escort the group of kids across the school crossing. Then, they may walk home independently.

Discipline We believe in logical, fair, but not equal consequences.
Possible consequences (varies by teacher): phone call home, change of color on their behavior chart, time out (within classroom or in another classroom), support from the office, removal from the classroom If a behavior pattern is noted, the teacher and parent(s) will discuss an individual behavior plan for that child. A log is kept to track behavior.
Our goal is to have the children take responsibility for their own behavior by using their words to solve problems and increasing self-control.
Partnership = Success for your child!
Check your child’s folder NIGHTLY! This is where most of our communication
will take place.Behavior chart- tells you how your child behaved in kindergarten
Change of dismissal- tells your child’s teacher how your child will be going home.
Seat work- Look for notes on your child’s work. This will help you follow up on anything that needs to be reinforced.
Flash cards are of great importance and need to be reviewed nightly. Please store them in your child’s book bag (in the individual zippered bag they came in) to ensure that your child always has them.
