Welcome to HLPC! Houston Lake Presbyterian Church is here for the glory of God to be a graciously redeemed worshiping body that proclaims and lives in the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ so that people, families, and communities in Houston County and beyond may know Christ in all His fullness. Please set all mobile phones to silent mode. Children of all ages are welcome in the worship service. Nursery is provided for children under 4 years of age. Parents are encouraged and welcome to utilize the crying room for infants and young children. Sound is also provided in the foyer.

The Lord’s Supper is being served this morning HLPC welcomes all Christians who are willing to forsake their sin and trust in Jesus Christ for salvation, and who are baptized members of a congregation that proclaims the gospel, to participate in the Lord’s Supper. Children who have been examined by the elders and admitted to the Lord’s Table are able to partake of this Sacrament. If you are not a Christian, or you are not prepared to share in this sacrament, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer.

(Note: The bread in the center cup is gluten-free.)

LORD’S DAY WORSHIP June 30, 2019

GATHERING Prelude We enter the sanctuary and gather as God’s people with the intent of worshiping the one, true and living God. Let the music being played remind us of our purpose here this morning. Welcome & Announcements Please fill out the connection card located in the seatbacks and drop it in the offering plate at the end of service. Silent Preparation for Worship †Call to Worship - The First Word We believe that God always initiates with sinners, so we begin worship with His Word, His invitation to us to gather in His name. Minister: O sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth! People: Sing to the LORD, bless His name; tell of His salvation from day to day. Minister: Declare His glory among the nations, People: His marvelous works among all the peoples. (Psalm 96:1-3) †Prayer for God’s Presence

†Hymn of Praise “Great One In Three”

1. Come now, Almighty King Rule and reign over us Help us Your praise to sing, Father, glorious Embracing us before all time You made us heirs with Christ on high By Your Spirit now we cry “Abba, Father” Chorus: We long for the day, Great One in Three We finally behold Your majesty Face to face, we’ll worship and adore Forevermore

2. Speak now, Incarnate Word Of Your relentless love Bearing our fatal curse with Your living blood When guilt and doubt come rushing in Help us see Your cross again You’re the Rock on which we live Jesus, Savior

3. Come, Holy Comforter Give grace to weary hearts Bring back the wanderer, drive away the dark You’re the summer of our souls You’re the fountain of our hope Our assurance here below Spirit of the Son

†Corporate Confession of our Faith Today for our confession of faith we use the Westminster Shorter Catechism, a teaching tool for use in the church and in the home. Westminster Catechism Q’s 19-21 Trinity Hymnal, p.870 REMEMBERING THE GOSPEL Call to Confess Our Sins Confession of sin is a way that we are refreshed in the gospel and are reminded that it is truly good news. Rather than wallowing in our sin we deal with sin and guilt by confessing it and claiming God’s promise of forgiveness in Christ. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God… (Romans 3:23) Silent Prayers of Confession Hymn of Confession & Grace “Just As I Am” (vv.1-4) Hymn #501 Words of Grace Minister: …and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by His blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over former sins. (Romans 3:24-25) People: God’s grace and mercy have been poured out on us in Jesus Christ so that we are forgiven. Glory to God! Amen.

†Grace Makes Us Gracious: Greeting One Another Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. (Romans 15:7) †Hymn of Celebration “To Christ the Lord Let Every Tongue”

1. To Christ the Lord let every tongue Its noblest tribute bring When He’s the subject of the song Who can refuse to sing? Survey the beauties of His face And on His glories dwell Think of the wonder of His grace And all His triumphs tell

2. Majestic sweetness sits enthroned Upon His awful brow His head with radiant glories crowned His lips with grace overflow No mortal can with Him compare Among the sons of men Fairer He is than all the fair That fill the Heavenly train

3. He saw me plunged in deep distress He fled to my relief For me He bore the shameful cross And carried all my grief His hand a thousand blessings pours Upon my guilty head His presence gilds my darkest hours And guards my sleeping bed

Page 7: Welcome to HLPC! · 30-06-2019  · my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing

4. To Him I owe my life and breath And all the joys I have He makes me triumph over death And saves me from the grave To Heaven the place of His abode He brings my weary feet Shows me the glories of my God And makes my joy complete

5. Since from His bounty I receive Such proofs of love divine Had I a thousand hearts to give Lord, they should all be Thine A thousand men could not compose A worthy song to bring Yet Your love is a melody Our hearts can’t help but sing! Prayers of the Peopl Ruling Elder Michael Collins

(Concluded by the Lord’s Prayer) Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. HEARING GOD SPEAK †Scripture Reading Mark 3:22-30 p.838

Minister: This is the Word of the Lord! People: Thanks be to God!

Hymn of Preparation “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less” Hymn #521 MEETING GOD AT HIS TABLE Words of Institution Sharing of the Bread and the Cup RESPONDING TO THE GOD OF GRACE Offering Our giving to God is a response to the gospel. We give as an act of worship and also as an expression of our trust in God to meet all our needs. Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. (Mal. 3:10) DEPARTING †Benediction - The Last Word God always has the last word in our worship, and for those who are in Christ Jesus these are always words of blessing. These words come from God, and not from the Pastor. As an expression of receiving this blessing we open our hands. †Singing of the Doxology Hymn #731 All Scripture quotations are from the English Standard Version (ESV).
