• We have been to all English 12 and
Communications 12 classes and have had
your student go over their Diploma
Verification Report (Transcript).
• Your student should have this report….

graduate,

It is mandatory that all students write English 12 or Communications 12 (and Fral 12 for students in the French Immersion Program)

Post Secondary
If planning to attend post secondary it is critical
to research the schools that you are considering
to check the individual institutions entrance
requirements.
Every College and University has its own
Entrance Requirements and every program has
its own special requirements.
These requirements are both Course and GPA
specific.
Application Process
Apply to more than one school to keep options open.
Most schools require online applications
Applications require a fee for processing which is non-refundable.
We will take English 12 classes to the GP Lab to do post secondary explorations
We will help with on-line applications in November (they will need a credit card #)

What is applybc.ca?
It is a centralized online service that allows you to apply for admissions to multiple post-secondary institutions in BC.
We will be supporting your students through this
process.
Students will need their PEN # and your credit
card information!
Post Secondary Institution (PSI) Choices Form – Ministry of Ed Website
• We will be meeting with grade 12 students in the GP Lab to have them select the Post Secondary Institutions where they would like the Ministry of Education to send their marks.
• Encourage your students to know where you want their marks sent.
• If they have gone online to check marks in the past two years, go online and make sure they remember their password.
Plan Ahead and Be Organized
• Keep a folder for Post Secondary information.
• Spend time researching your options!
• Watch the white board in the career centre as well as keep an eye on the MRSS website for newsletters and important grad dates.
• Make an appointment with Mrs. Domitrukin the career centre.
District Scholarships
• It’s amazing each year how many scholarships have no one apply for them….
• There is unique criteria for each scholarship so it’s worth looking through the booklet. It’s not all about grades!
• Scholarship and Bursary information and application package on the SD 42 website under the “students” tab.
District Scholarships
As part of your student’s application they will need:
Scholarship application (online)
Transcript
a one page personal letter of application outlining why
they qualify for a particular award, post-secondary goals,
interests and hobbies and work experience/volunteer
activities.
They will need two letters of reference from different
sources i.e. employer, volunteer organization, coach,
youth leader, community member, teacher, administrator,
etc.
District Scholarships
Bursaries are awarded based on financial need.
In addition to the scholarship package, both
parent/guardian and student will need to write a
testimonial letter regarding your financial need in
support of the bursary application plus the
bursary application form.

FORGET THESE OR THEY WILL NOT BE
CONSIDERED!
District Scholarships
The scholarships have a district deadline of early
April 2016, however, we have a school deadline BEFORE this date (Monday, February 29th - 2016). This is so
we can make sure every application is complete.

District/Authority Awards
• These awards of $1000 recognize
excellence in achievement in any of the
areas of Fine Arts, Applied Skills, Physical
Activity or Second Languages.
(Drama, Music, Art, Computers, Home Ec,
Tech Ed, PE, Business Ed and
Languages)
District/Authority Awards
• All applicants must have at least one grade 12 course and any two additional courses in the area of application.
• Applicants must have a minimum of a B average in the area in which his/her presentation will be made.
• Students will have approximately 10 minutes to present to a panel of approximately 6 judges from MRSS (10 minute presentation, 5 minutes Q&A).

Provincial Scholarships - 5000 awards total for BC Average of your 5 Prov. Exams = $1250 Top 20 students in BC = $2500 BC Excellence Scholarships = $5000 (1 nominee per school) BC Achievement Scholarship - $1250 – 3000 in BC Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarships - $5000 Parent/Guardian’s union or company funded scholarships. University or College Entrance Scholarships.
