Organisation

GGHK Ltd. is a Hong Kong registered charity organisation

Management Team of 15 volunteers, meeting twice a month

Full team of 70 volunteers working together with the Management Team

Monthly Steering Committee call with FGG

10 workgroups working closely with FGG and GGHK team (sports, A&C, ceremonies, finance, marketing/PR, business continuity, tech, people & organisation, scholarship)

Hong Kong is relatively small (1,104 km²) which is is 0.7 times as big as London (UK) (1,572 km²).

The GGHK locations will be all over Hong Kong, with Accreditation, Opening Ceremony and Festival Village planned in HK Island.

Athletics Half/Full MarathonHong Kong’s signature sporting event is the annual marathon, which sees more than 70,000 runners participate from around the region. It has gained popularity over the years and is now considered to be one of the most sought-after marathon destinations in Asia, selling out within hours of registration opening.

Pak Shek Kok, one of the most popular areas for road races, showcases Hong Kong’s beautiful landscape and immaculately maintained roads and running paths.

Athletics 5k runWhile 5k runs are popular all over the world, Hong Kong offers unique race courses that will both inspire and challenge against a beautiful backdrop. Whether taking place in the city or in the country parks, the 5k race remains a favorite event.

The course will be held amidst the beautiful night lights of Hong Kong’s iconic skyscrapers. Through hosting this race in the evening, it will allow runners to see the city through a different lens.

Athletics 10K runBetween the 10km races and the many local hash runner clubs, the 10k distance is always a popular distance in Hong Kong. Its accessibility and potential to accommodate runners of all proficiency levels are prominent features of the 10k.

The race course will be located near Disneyland HK, where runners will enjoy mountain views, manicured landscapes, and smooth terrain.

Athletics Track & FieldAlthough Hong Kong has a tropical climate, it has been hosting competitive track & field events since the 1950s. The local governing body was founded by a group of enthusiastic volunteers that later joined the IAAF.

Our track and field events will be held at Tseung Kwan O sports ground where competitive athletes have trained and competed.

Athletics Trail RunningOne of the best kept secrets of Hong Kong is the amazing trails! No matter where you are in this concrete jungle, you are only a short distance away from some of the world’s most coveted trails.

Our trail race will be located in Tai Mo Shan Country Park, home to Hong Kong’s tallest mountain standing at 957m above sea level.

Scheduled: Sunday, November 13th & Wednesday, November 16th

Description: 42km & 10km trail races with mixed terrain and elevation

TriathlonHong Kong has a thriving triathlon community with clubs scattered throughout the city that train together and compete at various triathlon events around the world.

Located outside the hustle of the busy city, the course will highlight Hong Kong’s warm waters, pristine roadways, and safe racing conditions.

Scheduled: Sunday, November 13th

Description: Olympic Distance multi-discipline race 1.5km Swim, 40km Bike, and 10km Run
