Fast-Track Class

• GED010 is a fast-paced course to prepare students for the official GED test, college classes, and career development.

• The course is designed for students who are very focused on getting their GED.

Fast-Track Class

• This class is entirely online with the exception of an introductory meeting and end-of-class CASAS testing.

CASAS Tests

• This class is subsidized by state funding. • In order to comply with government standards, a

CASAS pre-test will be given during the orientation for all newly enrolled students.

• A final post-test is also required after 45 hours of attendance or before a student exits the program.

• If you finish your GED before the end of class, you do not need to continue attending, but you do need to complete a CASAS post-test.

Fast-Track Class

• Online material is organized by week. There will be lectures in video format, including real-time activities, packets of material to be read, worksheets to complete, quizzes to test your understanding, and predictor tests to determine your GED test-readiness

• You should anticipate spending at least two to three hours per day, Monday-Friday, on this class.

Student Computer Accounts

• As a student of Edmonds CC, you are provided with your own student computer account. This allows you to access computers (and the Internet) on campus. If you need assistance in accessing your account, you can go to the first floor of Alderwood Hall or the Learning Support Center in Mukilteo Hall. You will need to have your student ID# with you.

• Your username is your student ID #; your password is the first 2 letters of your first name, with the first letter capitalized, and the last 6 digits of your student ID #. For example, if your name was John Smith and your ID # was 955-05-1234:

• Your username would be: 955051234• Your password would be: Jo051234

GED Tests

• The GED is primarily a multiple-choice test in each content area. The General Educational Development questions fall into five test areas similar to those of public high school areas of study: social studies, science, language arts (reading), writing skills, and mathematics.

GED Tests

• To pass the GED Tests, test-takers must earn both a minimum score of 410 (out of a possible 800) on each test and an average score of at least 450 on all 5 tests. This means a minimum total score of 2,250 (out of a possible 4,000) with no single test score below 410.

• The testing center is located on the first floor of Mountlake Terrace Hall, room 152 (near the espresso stand).

Testing Center

• The GED test costs a total of $75 for all five tests or $15 for each test.

• Tests can be paid for one at a time or all at once.

• GED tests can be taken Monday through Thursday from 8am to 8pm. The testing center is closed to GED testers on Fridays. Students should arrive 20 minutes early for their first testing session to fill out forms and pay the test fee.

• Students must have current photo ID that shows their birth date to take their GED test; if they are under 19 years of age, they must have a release from their school district.

• Make sure that you schedule enough “class time”. This class is the same curriculum as the 2 hour per day, five days per week in-person class.
