WELCOME!
Welcome to Foulridge St Michael and All Angels CE (VA) School. We are really looking forward to meeting you and your families in September 2020. Unfortunately during the current climate we are unable to induct and welcome children in the way that we usually would, and would like to. However we still wanted to provide both children and parents with as much information as possible in order to ease any worries you may have – we are in this together
If you have any concerns or questions then please do not hesitate to contact the school bursar on [email protected]

Daily Routines:• School starts at 8.40am. Doors are
open from 8.40am, so parents have time to talk to the staff if needed.
• We encourage parents to come into the Reception school yard, where they will be met by their class teacher.
• Ideally children should then enter the classroom independently and settle ready to start the day.
Named Adults:
All children must be collected by 3.20pm.
We will not let children go with an adult unless their name is on our records. This ensures your children are safe at all times. The class teacher will collect this information from you, prior to your child starting school.
Food in SchoolSnacks:• Children put their labelled water
bottle in the trays in the morning.
• Each child is entitled to a piece of fresh fruit, which we usually tend to offer in the morning.
• Until, but not including, the term in which your child turns 5, they will be entitled to free milk. Full details are included in the school pack.
Lunches:• School lunch details are
included in the school pack. Children eat lunch together in our dinner hall from 11.45am.
• Lunches are FREE for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
Pupil Premium• If you receive one of the benefits below, you can register your eligibility with the council so that the school can
benefit from additional funding, called Pupil Premium. This will entitle your child to free milk and educational visits
• The pupil premium gives schools extra funding to raise the achievement of some pupils. This is measured by the number of children eligible for free school meals based on the above qualifying benefits. It is worth over £1000 per pupil for the school.
More information about this is included in your starter pack.
Parents as PartnersThroughout the year there are opportunities to come into school and see what your child has been learning. These take the form of “Stay and Play sessions” and Parents Evenings.
Our school website and our weekly newsletter keep parents up-to-date.
Arrangements for Starting School
• Children will come part time for 2 days (Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd September). They will attend either a morning or an afternoon session. (We will let you know individually which session your child will attend.)
• Children will start full time from Friday 4th September. We made this decision in recognition of the time that most children now attend pre-school or nursery.
If for any reason you would like to discuss this with a member of staff, please do so at your earliest convenience. It is flexible for children based on individual needs..
Attendance The Law now prevents Head Teachers from authorising ANY term time absence unless the
circumstances of the request are considered exceptional by the school. Absences taken, which have not been authorised by school, may result in parents being fined by the local authority
and in some instances, their child losing their place at Foulridge St Michael and All Angels CE Primary School.
Please remember, Foulridge St Michael and All Angels CE Primary School is a popular choice for parents and as such, we have a long waiting list for admissions in all year groups.
Think carefully about the detrimental effect that an absence could have on your child’s education before requesting any absence during term time.
You may be asked to provide EVIDENCE of any claimed exceptional circumstances.
Absences• If your child is ill or absent you MUST inform school by 9.30a.m. You
can do this in the following ways:
• Telephone school (01282) 861338 There is an answerphone for parent's to leave messages 24/7.
• Call personally at the school office
• Tell your child’s teacher at the classroom door
• Contact school using parent mail or via the school website.
