Welcome to Emerald Lodge Rehabilitation Service
Information for service users and carers
RDaSH leading the way with care
Welcome to Emerald Lodge
The Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT)
here at Emerald Lodge hope that your
stay will be productive and help you to
achieve your individual recovery plans.
Our purpose is to support you, along
with your family and carers, to be able
to live as independently as possible,
while keeping well, once you leave
hospital.
We do this by working closely with
you, your family and carers, to build
up your confidence and practical skills,
as well as developing positive ways of
looking after yourself.
Please feel free to ask our staff to help
with anything you are not sure about.
We all feel a bit uncertain when getting
used to something or somewhere new.
• Your Named Nurse will be around to
help introduce you to the unit, and
explain our rules and routines.
• We ask that, and will encourage you
to work in positive partnership with
us through planning and reviewing
your care regularly. You will be
invited to attend a MDT review at
least once a month, along with three
monthly CPA meetings to help plan
your recovery.
• We provide a range of activities
to help with your recovery and
welcome ideas about what you
would like to do.
• Your ensuite bedroom has its own
small TV, although we also have
two lounges with TVs, DVD players
and hand held gaming equipment.
It is your responsibility to keep your
room clean and tidy, and staff will
help you if necessary.
• All patients are allocated a budget to
fund their self catering and receive
support/assistance with shopping
and to prepare and cook their meals.
We provide a daily breakfast club
A variety of drinks are available
throughout the day
• If you need a special diet or have
particular food preferences just let us
know.
• We have a small laundry on site.
You will need to provide your own
washing powder, etc.

• Visiting times :
Mon to Fri 3pm - 8pm

supervised by staff, your Named
Nurse will talk to you about this in
more detail. We are happy to be
flexible if these times are difficult.
• If you expect children to visit the
unit, please speak to a member of
the team before they do so. We
have a designated room for visits to
take place in, and there are certain
guidelines we ask you to follow
during the visit.
• We may keep certain objects like
razors in safe storage for you, just
ask staff when you need them.
• RDaSH is a smoke free trust and no
smoking is allowed on the grounds
at all. All patients who smoke will be
offered nicotine replacement therapy
to help manage their nicotine levels.
• For health and safety reasons we
cannot permit the use of alcohol or
illicit substances on our premises.
Our vision statement :
“ For people leaving our service to be
equipped with the skills, knowledge
and confidence to manage their
symptoms and not go through life
being defined or restricted by illness. ”
We welcome feedback- both positive
and negative. We will ask you to help
us to ensure the quality of our service
by completing a short survey at the
end of your stay.
