Do I need to physically be in New York to participate?Absolutely not! That’s the benefit of collaborative design. Participants from across the globe are encouraged to register and get in on the action.
What kinds of organizations typically participate (architectural firms, real estate developers, others)? Participation from all disciplines in the AECO community, from architects to engineers to landscapers, is encouraged and welcome. The more diverse the disciplines of your team, the better.
FAQ’s
Is this competition intended only for small and medium size organiza-tions, or is it open/encouraged for organizations of all sizes? It’s encouraged to be for organizations of all sizes. In March 2015 we held an SME (Small to Medium Enterprise) specific competition in the UK & Ireland. The teams included a college for boys as well. So Colleges and Universities are also encouraged to compete.
On average, how many teams participate in each competition? We have anywhere from 15 to 45 teams compete on a global level. Some firms and colleges/universities like to pair up to create a diverse skillset for the competition. This promotes collaboration and interoperability.
Has participation grown since the first competition was held? Participation has grown from strength to strength as the competitions gain more notori-ety. The awards are so coveted by the teams that they often advertise the awards on their email signatures following a win.
How many judges do you need? Historically we’ve had 6 judges.
How do the participating teams benefit from being a part of this event? Teams are encouraged to collaborate and use open inter-operability to complete the project on time. BUILD EARTH LIVE also serves to highlight the skills of each team to the wider audience and gives educational institutions the opportunity to compete or collabo-rate with commercial firms out in the real world.
