• Term-time– Monday - Thursday 08.30 -

21.00– Friday 08.30 - 19.00– Saturday 13.00 - 17.00– Sunday 13.00 - 17.00

• To borrow, return or renew your loans

• To collect reservations or books requested from other libraries

• If you have problems with photocopiers

• To buy acetates

How many items can I borrow?

• Up to 15 items– Books and audiovisual material

• Periodicals and newspapers are for reference only

For how long can I borrow it?

• Long loan books 3 weeks

• 7 day loan books 1 week

• Audiovisual 1 week

Desk Loan

• Core textbooks• Short loan periods• High fines if returned late• Photocopier

Avoid fines!

• Return everything on time• We only charge fines on late

• You can return books to any of our libraries

How do I renew my loans?

• In person - at any of the University libraries

• By phone• Use the library catalogue via

the Online Library website– http://library.brighton.ac.uk/

What is the Online Library?

• The online library on the internet – http://library.brighton.ac.uk/

• Provides access to– University of Brighton library

catalogue– other library catalogues– course-related resources

Your library/enrolment card

• You can’t borrow without your card• Tell us if you lose it• Don’t lend it to anyone or allow

anyone to borrow books with it• You’re responsible for items

borrowed on it• You have to pay for damage, or a

replacement cost if items are lost

Use the library catalogue to...

• Find books on your reading list • Find books, periodicals,

newspapers and audiovisual items– lists material in all UoB libraries

• Check the items you have out on loan

• Reserve a book which is out to someone else

The item I want is out to another borrower

• Use the catalogue to reserve it • When the item is returned, we

put it aside and let you know• Check your university e-mail

– remember to forward email to a personal email address!

The item I want is at another library

• 5 libraries: Aldrich, Falmer, St Peter’s House, Queenwood and DGH

• If the item is on loan, reserve it on the catalogue

• If the item is available, ask at the Enquiry Desk

• Prepaid card (£2.00 or £5.00)

• Card dispenser on 1st and Ground Floors

• Instructions on noticeboards near copiers
