Festivals in Jacksonville, FL

• The town of Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, Florida is the birthplace of the modern, motorized shrimping industry.

• Today our festival still includes shrimp boats and great food, as well as a parade, a pirate invasion, music, entertainment, and fine art, crafts and antiques.

Jacksonville King Fish tournament

• The Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament, held each year in July at Jim King Park & Boat Ramp on the ICW, is the largest kingfish tournament in the country.

Parks in Jacksonville

HANNAH PARK• Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park,

encompassing 450 acres on the sandy shores of the Atlantic Ocean, is located about 17 miles east of Jacksonville - just south of Mayport Naval Station.

• The park has 1.5 miles of sandy beach and is noted for its fine surfing at an area known as "The Poles" located at the extreme southern end of the Mayport Naval Station Beach.

Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve

• National Park Service site: 46,000 acre preserve includes historic sites, undisturbed natural areas, vistas across salt marsh and forested uplands and water based recreational opportunities include boating, fishing, and kayaking.
