A Note From The OwnersWe were first attracted to 147 Lisgar Street when it was featured as the ‘House of the Week’ in Toronto Life magazine. Our interest peaked, we decided to go check it out in person… and the next day we bought it! It was love at first sight! Even now, as we head for retirement in California, we still feel twinges of regret at having to leave this beautiful home behind, but it’s time that someone else enjoy and appreciate it as much as we have.

One of our favourite aspects of this property is its stellar urban location; access to the breadth of downtown, the waterfront, Billy Bishop Airport, the QEW, and Pearson Airport is prime! It’s also in proximity to two highly coveted green spaces – High Park and Trinity Bellwoods (something that our dog Tillie particularly appreciates!). As people who enjoy the pedestrian lifestyle, it’s fun to be such a short stroll to The Drake, to Goodsons, as well as the Dog and Bear. The latter is a major haunt for sports fans, and we have spent many evenings cheering on the Leafs or the Blue Jays with our neighbors! We also enjoy Luna Café – great for coffee lovers and brunch addicts – and Julie’s Cuban Restaurant on Dovercourt at Argyle.

On the subject of neighbors, we’ve always considered ourselves in good company while living in this house. Immediately to the north are Nancy and Rob, a professional couple who are avid gardeners and who can offer plenty of advice on how to keep an urban garden looking great with minimal effort! To the south are Laurel and Marc. Laurel drives a racy yellow Porsche - so look out when you are walking down the laneway! They’ve both become friends, and we feel truly lucky for it. Obviously, this area is in evolving dramatically, and we’re delighted to see several more renovated houses become home to similar engaging, progressive Torontonians.

Neighbours and neighbourhood aside, we hope this home speaks for itself. For us, it was the perfect blend of old and new, charm and function. It exudes warmth – which we’ve come to recognize as a rare quality, especially among the more “Vogue” renovations we’ve encountered. Despite the magazine features or compliments it’s received over the years, to us, it’s just simply been ‘home’. We’re excited for the next owners to experience the same level of love and enjoyment that it has brought us.
