HomeworkStudents receive a grid each week/fortnight (upon
teacher discretion). The grid will be given as a hard copy as well as accessible on OneNote.
Children are to spend approximately 45 minutes per night on their homework.
Please sight and sign the grid upon completion. Signing the hard copy or digitally on oneNote are
both acceptable.
Any homework that is not completed with reason please include a brief note from the parents.
Encourage your children with school work but please don’t do it for them. Write to the teacher
involved if there are any problems .
Behaviour ManagementA Behaviour Record file will operate in Year 6.
Serious unacceptable behaviour will result in an entry to this file and parents will be notified.
Please note:The behaviour file is assessed by teachers and principal. Students who have been continually entered, could result in the privilege of attending Camp, Adventure World or similar activities being impacted.
Classroom ManagementCLASS RULES In this classroom we wish to feel safe and happy while given every opportunity to learn. We want
this to be a positive learning environment where we can have a go at anything. CLASS RULES Show RESPECT in everything that I do. Demonstrate FAIR PLAY and SPORTSMANSHIP in all activities. INCLUDE all those who want to participate both in and out of the classroom. DO MY BEST in all activities that I try. Be ORGANISED for all activities with appropriate equipment.
CLASS REWARDS Class reward system (will change from term to term) Class points for term reward Faction points Sent to the principle for positive achievements
NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCESThis varies depending on the severity of the incident at the discretion of the teacher.
Mild incident Student discussion with the teacher. Moderate incident: Reflection sheet, consequences and parent contact to the
discretion of the teacher. Severe incident: Sent to the principal at teachers discretion, parent contact, impact
on involvement of student activities to the discretion of the teacher..
AttendancePunctuality
All students are expected to be at school before 8.40am. However, in order for students to unpack bags etc, a recommended time of arrival is 8.30am. Lateness causes stress for the child and inconvenience for the class teacher.
AbsenteesIn the event of a student being absent, the school requires contact from the parents explaining the absence via phone call to school before 8.30am, note in diary or verbal communication beforehand… and a signed letter to the teacher/Principal on the child’s return.

Additional InformationMedical Needs
For any child that may have particular medical needs, parents are asked to complete and return a medical form that can be obtained from the office. A reminder that the Upper Block is a nut free zone, please continue to be mindful of contents of your child’s lunch box.
BirthdaysIf parents wish to provide food/sweets to celebrate their child’s birthday, they are advised that these will only be distributed by the birthday boy/girl at recess or at the end of the day with parent permission. Wrapped, bite-sized goodies (please no large cakes as they create so much inconvenience for class teachers) are preferred. Please be mindful of nut allergies. Parents with concerns regarding this are asked to contact us as soon as possible.
Novels in Year 6All students are expected to have a novel of their choice at all times to read at home and during school.
Literature Circles in 6 In Term 1 we will be all working on “Hatchet” but by second term the class will form small reading groups with different novels supervised by an adult leader. We would love volunteers to help, please contact the classroom teacher if you are available to help.
