WELCOME I would like to welcome you to Kerry Voices 4, our Annual Scientific Meeting. This has always been a hugely popular conference and I hope that this year will be no different. Its success is based on the quality of our speakers, the venue and of course, the all-important social element to the proceedings. We have an excellent line up of speakers this year covering key areas of dentistry. The venue, as always, is the five-star Europe Hotel & Resort.This luxurious hotel is located in Fossa, Killarney by the shore of Lough Leane. It boasts an opulent spa and leisure centre, regarded as one of the best in Ireland. Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, Killarney National Park, the Gap of Dunloe and Carrauntoohil are all nearby. Dr Norma O’Connor

Norma provides the oral surgery

service for patients referred to

Riverpoint Dental Specialist Clinic.

She graduated from UCC in 2004,

and worked in general dentistry

before pursuing further study in oral

surgery. She was awarded

Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons of

Edinburgh in 2008, and has completed oral surgery

specialty training in the Edinburgh Postgraduate Dental

Institute, and a Master’s in Oral Surgery with the University

of Edinburgh. Norma works as a Consultant in Oral

Surgery in the Edinburgh Postgraduate Dental Institute. She

is a member of the British Association of Oral Surgeons

and the Irish Dental Association.

Dr Conor Durack

Conor graduated from Cork Dental

School in 2001. He worked in

general practice in the UK, Australia

and Ireland before taking a position

as Senior House Officer in

Restorative Dentistry at Cork

Dental Hospital. In 2007, he was

awarded Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery,

RCSI. He completed his four-year specialist training

programme in endodontology in 2011 at Guy’s Hospital in

London. He also obtained his MEndo from the Royal

College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Conor is registered as a

specialist endodontist with the General Dental Council

(UK). He is a committee member and president-elect of

the Irish Endodontic Society.

Dr Seamus Sharkey

Seamus graduated from Cork

Dental School in 2001. In 2006, he

began a three-year full-time

doctorate programme in

prosthodontics in the Dublin Dental

School and Hospital, from which he

graduated with first-class honours. In

2009 he successfully completed the Fellowship

examinations for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Seamus is regularly invited to give both hands-on

demonstration courses and lectures to dentists across

Ireland and the UK. He is also a clinical lecturer in the Cork

Dental Hospital, where he teaches undergraduate and

postgraduate students. He is also actively involved in

ongoing research projects within the hospital.

Dr Kate Counihan/Dr Niamh McAuliffe

Kate graduated

from UCC

before working

in a variety of

hospital and

community posts

in Edinburgh and

Dublin. While completing specialty training in orthodontics in

London, she was awarded the Jim Moss academic prize and

the British Orthodontic Society M’Orth Cases Prize.

Niamh graduated from Cork Dental School in 2001. She

undertook specialist orthodontic training in Liverpool,

attained her Membership in Orthodontics with the Royal

College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and a Master in Dental

Science in Orthodontics from the University of Liverpool.
