What is a Lexile Measure?

•A Lexile measure is a valuable piece of information about either an individual's reading ability or the difficulty of a text, a book or magazine article.

•The Lexile measure is shown as a number with an "L" after it . For example, 880L is 880 Lexile.

Materials• Planner – please bring it and USE IT!• AVID binder• Independent Reading Book (based on

their Lexile)• Great Books packet• Post-its• Highlighter• Pens/pencil

Grading Policy• Students will be graded on the following:– Classwork (40%)• Shared inquiry discussions, tests, and quizzes

– Independent Reading (25%) • Reading Logs & Readers Responses, Book Hooks

– Written Assessments (20%)• Writing about reading

– Homework (15%)
