Welcome everyone...

St Albans Musical Theatre Company would like to welcome you to this performance of our latest

show Spamalot.

Following on from our hugely successful and award winning production of Sister Act in

November, we are delighted to have Sam Gaines on board to direct our 25-strong highly talented

cast in his first show for SAMTC.

Susana Tierney joins us again, after a short absence, as musical director and Stefanie Chadburn,

who was last seen on-stage in Sister Act, takes on the role of choreographer.

Our wonderful production team have made rehearsals so much fun and I hope this comes across

to you all in the audience as we ask you to sit back and enjoy the wonderfully silly Monty Python

musical Spamalot.

Thank you for joining us and enjoy your evening.

Stefanie Chadburn – Choreographer

Stefanie is usually to be found performing in shows with SAMTC,

however has enjoyed the new challenge of choreographing Spamalot

with a fantastic production team! Stefanie made her debut as Jan in

SAMTC’s production of Grease, closely followed by the role of Penny

Pingleton in Hairspray and Tina in Sister Act. In addition to these roles

Stefanie has previously performed in a range of shows, including principal dancer in Fame,

Barnum, Copacabana and titled roles in Summer Holiday, Seussical the Musical, Smokey Joe’s Cafe and

Stag’s and Hen’s.

When Stefanie is not rehearsing, she enjoys sharing her love of dance with children of all ages as

a Physical Education teacher.

Stefanie would like to thank Sam and Susanna for their continued support during rehearsals and

the cast for showing such commitment and enthusiasm!

Sam Gaines – Director Sam is delighted to be working with St Albans Musical Theatre

Company having first appeared for them in 2006 as Kipps in Half a

Sixpence.

Sam has previously directed Crazy for You and The Wedding Singer

for Harpenden Light Operatic Society, Bugsy Malone, Seussical and

Godspell for St Albans Youth Music Theatre, Tomb With A View for

Berkhamstead Theatre Company, Seussical (again) for Abbots Langley Gilbert & Sullivan Society,

Legally Blonde for Cassio Productions and Veronica’s Room for The Pumphouse Theatre Company.

He last appeared on stage in June 2016 as the lead in Blackadder for The Pumphouse Theatre

Company.

Sam would like to dedicate his work on this show to Avril.

Susana Tierney – Music Director

Susana graduated from Trinity College of Music where she studied the

piano, and then went on to assist the musical director in coaching

the boys for Oliver! at the London Palladium. She now works for an

artist management agency in London. Susana has been Musical

Director for many shows including: Fiddler on the Roof, Guys & Dolls,

Me & My Girl, Kiss Me, Kate, Half a Sixpence, Children of Eden, Summer

Holiday, Once Upon a Mattress, I Love You Because, Annie, Anything

Goes, Pirates of Penzance, Little Shop of Horrors & Jesus Christ Superstar.

Ben Fricke – Sir Lancelot

Ben is delighted to be making his SAMTC and Alban Arena debut

with Spamalot. He is looking forward to using his French, Posh

Knight, Cockney Peasant, Squeaky Ni, Brummie/Hollywood Rock

Legend and Mysterious Scottish accents. He wishes to point out

that, when you watch Holy Grail again, you’ll notice that Cleese

can’t do a Scottish one either.

Previous productions include Valmont in Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Waterman’s,

Brentford); Cinderella’s Prince & Wolf, Into The Woods (Magdalen College Gardens,

Oxford); Cliff, Cabaret (Old Fire Station, Oxford); Cinderella’s Prince & Cinderella’s Mother,

Into The Woods (Wimbledon Theatre); Mr Dupper, Writing Orlando (Bridewell Theatre);

Braham, The Philanthropist (Burton Taylor Theatre, Oxford) and many others, including

Electra, The Cocktail Party, Christie In Love, Jacques And His Master, The Dumb WaiterGareth Edwards - Patsy

Gareth is excited to be performing with SAMTC alongside a great

team in such a fun show. A proud ‘northerner’, Gareth is originally

from Derbyshire and trained in music and drama in Manchester,

before moving ‘down south’ to become a teacher. He has been

lucky to perform some of his favourite parts with some of his

favourite local companies, and counts his favourite roles to

date as Seymour, (Little shop of Horrors), George (The Wedding Singer) Evelyn

(Anything Goes), Malcolm (Full Monty), Jesus (Godspell), Cat in the hat (Seussical), Cosmo

(Singing in the rain). He hopes you enjoy the silliness!

Stewart Jordan – KIng Arthur

Lured back with promise of the holy trinity-ham, jam and a lot of

Spam, Stewart is delighted to be returning to the Arena after an 11

year hiatus. Since his last appearance for SAMTC as Riff in West Side

Story he has performed with several local societies in a variety

of roles, Gaston (Beauty and the Beast), Anatoly (Chess), Doug

(Elegies), Harold Hill (The Music Man), Joe Gillis (Sunset Boulevard),

Percy Blakeney (The Scarlet Pimpernel), Danny Zuko (Grease) Jackson (The Hired Man),

Freddy Benson (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) amongst others. This week he hopes to finally find

his Grail!

AJ King – Sir Galahad

AJ has been involved in the jazz hands

fueled world of musical theatre from

a young age. His first role was Oliver

in Oliver, which taught him a lot

about performing but also gave him an

insufferable ego (he’s working on this). He became infamous

for being approximate with his lines whilst performing in a further

17 shows as a teenager, and this led him to co-found The Improv.

Musical at university. He improvised over 50 musicals with this group

and directed them through two successful Edinburgh Fringe runs. He’s

excited to play Sir Galahad in his first production with SAMTC.

Charlie Harden – Sir Robin

Charlie is thrilled to be part of this production of ‘Spamalot’ and

would like to thank everyone involved with the show for a

wonderful time. Previous roles include Farrah, Priscilla Queen of

the Desert; Mendel, Fiddler on the Roof; Mr Sowerberry, Oliver!;

Eugene, Grease and Rolf, The Sound of Music. In August this

year Charlie is embarking on a challenge to ride from Land’s

End to John O’Groats in aid of the National Osteoporosis Society and would

be immensely grateful for your sponsorship to raise

funds for this very important cause – please see

justgiving.com/Charlie-LEJOG for more

details.

Clare Cordell – Lady of the Lake

Clare is a singer, songwriter and stage actress from Watford

Clare worked professionally on stage for 5 years where she played

Joanne in a touring production of RENT the musical and featured

as a lead vocalist in a live stage production of the music from the

hit FOX TV show Glee

Clare released her first single ‘Take My

Hand’ last year, which is currently available on iTunes and

Spoti-fy – and her debut album ‘No Stupid Ideas’ comes out

on Friday, 2 June 2017.

Duncan Kennedy - Historian

When Duncan looked at the part list for Spamalot he thought

that one part just wouldn’t cut it, and proceeded to claim 7 of

the roles for himself... alongside principal roles in two other

simultaneous shows. Just turned 19, Duncan is heading

to Kings College London in September to study film having

taken a year out which he has filled with theatre, including an eight week playwriting

course at the National Theatre.

This is Duncan’s second show with the company following Hairspray last November,

and has performed in countless shows at the Abbey Theatre, including Loserville earlier

this month. He also made his directorial debut as assistant director for Abigail’s Party at

the Abbey Theatre in November and is planning to continue directing. Having been a

performer from a young age, some of Duncan’s credits include Bobby in Crazy for You,

Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and Granillo in Rope.

Mike Smith – Sir Bedevere

Mike has been acting for more years than he cares to admit. He’s

appeared in over 75 productions that include musicals, panto,

comedy, drama and Shakespeare. As well as being involved with

SAMTC Mike is a stalwart member of the Barn Theatre in WGC.

He has also appeared at the Minack Theatre in Cornwall several

times with the Hertfordshire Players.

A keen fan of Watford FC he realised a dream in 2008 when he appeared at Watford, albeit

at the Palace Theatre, in Me and My Girl. As you’ll probably see he loves dancing!
