• Kindergarteners to university-level students can participate.
• Students must participate in 2- to 7-person teams.• Teams compete in any of 7 Team Challenges.

APOLLO XIII and D.I. APOLLO XIII and D.I. Apollo 13 astronauts are alive because of
creative problem solving. At onepoint, they needed a round filter to fit in the slot for a square one. The engineers on earth had to creatively solve the challenge using only the items that the astronauts had available to them. This
was truly the case of CPS saving lives!

• At Tournaments, teams present their solutions to Appraisers for score.
• They also compete in Instant Challenges. Instant Challenges are:• Short, time-driven impromptu challenges.• Confidential until the day of the Tournament.• Performance-Based, Task-Based, or a combination of the
two.

• Unless they are competing in “Do or DI,” teams must also complete two Side Trips. Side Trips are:• Team-determined, scored elements of the Team Challenge.• Opportunities to showcase and receive points for team effort or skills not
already assessed in the Team Challenge.
• For example, if a team has made elaborate costumes for a Performance, but costumes are not a scored element of the Challenge, the team can ask that their costumes be scored as one of their Side Trips.
• Unless they are competing in “Do or DI,” teams must also complete two Side Trips. Side Trips are:• Team-determined, scored elements of the Team Challenge.• Opportunities to showcase and receive points for team effort or skills not

In the Project portion of the Challenge, your team will:• Identify community needs and use creative problem solving tools to
select at least one need.• Design and implement a team Project in your community that
creatively uses music to address the need(s) you selected.
In the Tournament portion of the Challenge, your team will:• Compile an Album to document the Project.• Create and perform an entertaining Presentation that informs the
audience about your Project.• Include a Multi-sensory Aesthetic Experience in your Presentation.• Create two Side Trips and integrate them into the Presentation.

Your team will:•Learn about Robotic Technology and the changes it creates. •Create an original Story which envisions and shows how at least one character’s life may be changed by Robotic Technology. •Design, create, and integrate a device called DI-BOT, which completes a motion or task, into the Story. •Create a method to change at least one prop or set piece, or part(s) of the prop or set piece, into DI-BOT, or a part of DI-BOT.•Create a scene change that enhances the Presentation by providing an effective transitional link from one scene to another.
