Introduction
THE GREAT DEPRESSION WORLD WAR II
In this lesson you are the most important piece, it is up to you and your group to explore one of the following topics: The Great Depression, World War Two or The Holocaust and teach your classmates the 5 W's of these topics. These topics are extremely important in US and World History because many of the themes still exist today at a different level.
Each group will either learn about the fact that people became poor overnight making changes to people’s roles and lives in society and the struggles people faced. Or, the killing over territory and power, even worse the brutal executions of people based on discrimination. There are many pictures, you tube and other videos to watch and information to explore.
Task
You will be assigned a group and topic in history from 1930's -1945, then your group will take part in reciprocal teaching, which means you will teach others. Each student will be assigned a role within their historical topic. As a team, each group will conquer the understanding of the
information according to their role and create a presentation to teach it to your peers. If you are working alone, you will work on the Great Depression as your topic.
Steps for assignment
Step 1: Read the information provided by the links appropriate for your role and other links you find on your own. Then summarize the content by answering the questions in this lesson. Once you have summarized the content in writing, you will come together as a group and share the information that each of you have found.
Step 2: Download primary source pictures that show & illustrate your research from Step 1. Remember, they must be primary source pictures and documents.
Step 3: Bring all your good summarizations and pictures to the group to put together for your presentation. MAKE sure your presentation answers the 5 W's (WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY) in an exciting story format.
Step 4: Be as creative as possible in this section. You can use apps such as ipad movie, Comic lite, Explain Everything or Storykit or create a postage stamp. If this is for make-up you will create the postage stamp with the following things on the front: 1. A Price, 2. A Picture, 3. A Title. The back of the stamp will have an explanation in paragraph form of the 5W’s.
REMINDERS:
NOTE: You may use additional sources that you may find on your own, however, please approve them with me first.
***You are a team, therefore, your stamps must have the same look of where the price and title go.
Below are the topics…good luck!
