Now is a good time to look back at all that we have accomplished, as we continue to push forward towards a future that still has some uncertainty. We are in Phase 2 of the Keep it Kicking Campaign and have implemented digital training sessions, weekly competitions, and creative ways to connect with our membership and community. Many of the tools and activities are making us a better organization and we will continue to use those tools when we return to our normal program operations. The updated overview of the Keep it Kicking Campaign is posted to our websites. Congratulations to our weekly winners from Chiefs FC and Georgia Rush. We will continue to run our competitions each week. To be entered, all you need to do is submit a video or photo under the hashtags #keepitkicking, #keepitkickingChiefsfc or #keepitkickingGARush. There is no limit on the number of entries so submit as many as you want. If you cannot upload a video or photo, you can always send it directly to us and we will post it for you. In addition to this newsletter, I have released a weekly video which is posted to our social media accounts. They are a short overview of what to expect from the Keep it Kicking Program that week as things continue to evolve. Please take advantage of the video updates. They are short, one-two minutes, but give a lot of important information and are a lot more personal than just this letter. We hope many of you have taken advantage of the Keep it Kicking Bingo Game. The response has been positive. This week we are again releasing an interactive, thought provoking game for players and parents to participate in. We want you to let us know who you would pick for your ultimate 7v7 team. Players can be for the past or the present and must not be selected from the same team or county. Post your team on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #keepitKickingWhoDoYouPick to be entered to win a weekly prize. The game will be sent out to all players. You can submit multiple team line ups if you want and our coaching staff will pick the winner of the ultimate 7v7 team.

Coaches continue to offer the Live Zoom practice sessions, and feedback has been great. We are already using these sessions to provide feedback to the coaches on how they are interacting with players and developing their style of online coaching. All coaches participated in a live workshop with Positive Coaching Alliance. The workshop was tailored to focus on what makes a positive zoom practice and how we measure success during those practices. Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA.) is a national non-profit organization with the mission of creating a positive, character-building youth sports environment that results in BETTER ATHLETES, BETTER PEOPLE. This week we are hosting Atlanta United who will present their player development framework to our coaching staff. They will also discuss how they are developing their own coaches and the items their coaches focus on for personal development when away from the field. Due to the success of the Live Zoom Academy and Selecgt Sessions, we are now providing these for our Recreational Programs players. We are working to provide opportunities for all players to stay active and work on their skills with our professional staff. Look for the weekly links to these sessions. Over the last few weeks, we have honored our first responders, our Senior High School Players and have asked everyone to share positive stories. We will continue to post these on our social media channels so please send us images or anything you want us to share under the hashtags #KeepitKickingThanksyou, #KeepitKickingSeniors, and, #KeepitKickingTellUsSomethingGood. If you are a Chiefs FC or Georgia Rush Senior, player or know one of these amazing essential workers, or want to share something good, please send us a photo with a short blurb to [email protected] or [email protected]. We are starting to look past COVID 19 to some of our fall programs. Our Fall Academy dates are almost set, and we are working on initiatives such as the #KeepitKickingJamboree, and the #KeepitKickingSeniorNight for when we can return to the field. Some of the initiatives are listed in the Keep it Kicking Overview. Communication is continuing between clubs and programs on return to play when the time is right, and we are preparing for a gradual return. Given the update last week by Governor Kemp that some businesses are opening this week there is still a lot of anxiety about timing on returning to the fields for active play. Several of you have reached out to us inquiring about the spring season. Although retuning to play in May is not looking likely, we were still waiting for the formal confirmation concerning our season of play from the governing bodies. Georgia Soccer communicated late last week that clubs can now move forward with final determinations on their seasons. USSF, USYS, and Georgia Soccer are all still on formal suspension until May 15. We have been working on contingency plans diligently and will communicate our plans by early next week, if not before.

Chiefs FC and Georgia Rush are not for profit membership driven organizations, with significant overhead costs that we continue to incur regardless of the suspension in play. These include supporting our staff, managing facilities, and general operating expenses. We are working to keep the organizations moving forward and being cognizant of the value of the experience that our members committed to when registering for our programs. The #KeepitKicking Campaign is not in place of our regular programs. It is simply an initiative we have undertaken to help our communities find a way through this tough time together, and together I believe we can. We rely on the membership support to keep our fields open, operate programs and provide soccer to our communities. Thank you for your continued support to our organizations, our families, players and coaches. Keep it Kicking!
