WELCOME ADDRESS
Welcome to the “20th International Conference on Solid Compounds of Transition Elements” SCTE-2016 which will be held in Zaragoza (Spain) from April 11th to 15th, 2016, at the Paraninfo Building of the University of Zaragoza.
SCTE is intended to provide a forum for discussion on fundamental and applied research in the areas of the solid state chemistry, physics and materials science of compounds containing d- and f- elements, and as an informal platform to exchange ideas and promote new collaborations.
On this occasion, SCTE will celebrate its twentieth edition, after previous meetings from Paris (1965) to Genoa (2014).
The SCTE conference aims to assess the latest progress in these fields in several invited talks by experts, to foster presentations of on-going research projects by young researchers and PhD students, and to stimulate new collaborative projects.
Zaragoza, the Roman Caesar Augusta, the principal city on the Ebro River, is rich in historical monuments and stimulating cultural life. We sincerely hope that you will join us and we look forward welcoming you at SCTE-2016.
Prof. Juan Bartolomé, Conference Chairman SCTE-2016 Prof. Fernando Bartolomé, Conference Co-Chairman SCTE-2016

ICMA’s research
lines
The Aragón Materials Science Institute (ICMA) was created in 1985 through an agreement between the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR) as joint research Institute that belongs to both organizations. The fundamental objectives of ICMA are to contribute to the advancement of scientific and technical knowledge in the area of Materials Science and Technology, by conducing high quality scientific and technical research.
Since its very beginning, Molecular Sciences and Magnetism have been important pillars in the science development at the Institute. Thus, Functional Organic Materials, Materials for Molecular Electronics, Molecular Chips and Multifunctional Magnetic Molecular Materials are some of its research lines. In particular, scientists from the ICMA have pioneered the development of Molecular-based Magnetism since the early times of the area contributing with seminal results, networking and the organization of Conferences.
