PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE HOLY FAITH EPISCOPAL CHURCH, PORT ST. LUCIE, FL.

SIXTH SUNDAY OF EPIPHANY / ST. VALENTINE’S DAY February 15, 2015

Celebrant: Let us pray for the family of the Church, for loving relationships, and for the life of families around us, saying; Jesus, Lord of love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord Jesus, we thank you for this celebration of love, for St. Valen-tine and his willingness to sacrifice his life for love. Teach us to be compassionate Christians, to bring others to your love, and to demonstrate love to others. Jesus, Lord of love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, you revealed your love to the world by giving us your only son, Jesus. We thank you for your abundant love to us manifested on the cross through Christ. Jesus, Lord of love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord Jesus, you command us to love one another, to love our ene-mies, and to be kind to those who dislike us. Send your love into our hearts that we may love them, not out of commitment, but out of affection for you. Jesus, Lord of love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for single men and women in our churches, in our commu-nity, and in the world, that they may seek your love, and through your love, find the person with whom they may build a home and live a joyful life. Jesus, Lord of love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray that your love strengthens all marriages and restores bro-ken relationships. Shine your light upon them and share your joy. Jesus, Lord of love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We thank you for the gift of love; for spouses, parents, grandpar-ents, children, and friends. May their love never fade and may your love always be present in their hearts. Jesus, Lord of love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for those who rejoice this week as they celebrate their birthday especially Terri, Grafton, Elizabeth, Carlos, Tristán, & Gabriel; and those celebrating an anniversary, especially Bill & Bonnie and Rafael & Ana that they might obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing might flee away. Jesus, Lord of love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of our salvation, we pray to you. Open our ears to the message of Your gospel. Open our lives to not only seek out and accept your renewing love, but to open our hearts that we may share your cleans-ing love with others. Help us to stretch out our hands to touch those who, like your Son, are rejected and despised by others. Help us to embrace those who are lonely, those who live in fear, those who despair, those who think they are no longer worthy of care and atten-tion, and most of all, the love, of others. Jesus, Lord of love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord, hear as well the particular prayers for those of our community and our world whom you have placed upon our hearts this day. We pray to you for: Elsa, Mariana, Celia, Cecil, Wayne, Pat, Aquinda, Trevor, Hazel, Martha, Margaret, Leonard, Linda, the Silva’s, Stan-ley, Albertina, Mateo, Benjamin and Jeanne. Jesus, Lord of love, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Welcome with your divine pleasure all who have died, especially Justin Fraga, that they may have a place in your eternal domain. Je-sus, Lord of love, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Lord, we lift up in prayer your servants: Justin, Archbishop of Can-terbury; Katharine, our presiding bishop; Gregory, our bishop; Or-lando, our vicar; Bill, Burnet, Pepe, and Jamie our clergy, that they may be faithful ministers of your Word and Sacraments. Jesus, Lord of love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

6

We pray, O Lord, for our men and women of our Armed Forc-es, saying: Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad, especially: _________. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils, which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be. Glory and praise to you, O living God. Celebrant: God of wonder and of joy, grace comes from you, and you alone are the source of life and love. Without you, we cannot please you; without your love, our deeds are worth nothing. Send your Holy Spirit, and pour into our hearts that most excel-lent gift of love, that we may worship you now with thankful hearts and serve you always with willing minds; through Jesus

Christ our Lord. Amen.

Healing Hymn

HIS NAME IS WONDERFUL

His name is wonderful,

His name is wonderful,

His name is wonderful,

Jesus, my Lord.

He is the mighty King,

Master of everything;

His name wonderful,

Jesus, my Lord.

He’s the great Shepherd,

The Rock of all ages,

Almighty God is he;

Bow down before him,

Love and adore him,

His name is wonderful,

Jesus, my Lord.
