A year once again impacted by COVID-19 causing changes to how we have had to deliver teaching and learning. The school would like to thank the parents and carers of our students for the effort and hard work they have obviously put into their child’s learning from home experience. We could not have done this without you. This term teachers will be preparing lessons, assessments and learning experiences to enhance the great work parents have done at home. All students from Year 3 to Year 6 will be participating in an online Check-in Assessment package organised state-wide by the Department of Education. This should provide class teachers with very valuable information targeting literacy and numeracy for each of the students in their classes. BREAKFAST CLUB This week saw the recommencement of our school Breakfast Club. Breakfast is served from 8:30am in the school hall. Students who would like to have breakfast before school starts, now can have cereal and toast to fill their tummies and prepare them for learning by fuelling their concentration with a hearty breakfast. I would like to thank Mrs Abberfield and her team who volunteer three mornings a week to provide this valuable service for our students. COVID-19 LEVEL 3 The school returned this term to the same set of restrictions in place at the end of Term 3. Unfortunately, parents are not permitted on the school site unless they are enrolling a student, picking up a student or attending an interview. Obviously, this will be done through the top office and all visitors must sign in using the school’s QR code. Parents would also be aware that all staff on the school site, including contractors, Allied Health providers and tutors must be fully vaccinated by 8 November. The school is moving strongly towards this goal to keep our students, fellow staff members and the community safe. Additional cleaning and personal hygiene protocols and products are strictly followed. WELCOME BACK TO TERM 4

STUDENT BANKING EACH TUESDAY

This week students returned for the commencement of the last term for 2021.

BREAKFAST CLUB

This week saw the recommencement of our school Breakfast Club.

COVID-19 LEVEL 3

The school returned this term to the same set of restrictions in place at the

end of Term 3.

GATE CONGESTION

I am again appealing to parents to not congregate on mass at the Bourke Street gate in the afternoons. Given the need for parents to adhere to the 1.5m physical distancing has caused overcrowding and parents standing on the road. This has been reported by many parents and it won’t be long before the police begin to fine people. The school has several gates parents could collect their students from in the afternoons including the Brisbane Street, ANZAC Park and Napier Street gates. The school also has an extensive bus system that students could utilise.

BOOK WEEK

Parents would have noticed postponed Book Week celebrations have now been scheduled for the week commencing Monday 18 October. Please check out the DoJo post from Miss Mack and start thinking about your child’s costume for the Friday 22 October Book Character Parade. These parades will be conducted according to our COVID Safety Plan limiting the mixing of cohorts and without parents present. A book fair will be held on the Thursday and Friday in conjunction with Collins Bookstore Tamworth who have been a great supporter of our school.

SRC TREES

The first of our wear green for Tree Day SRC trees have been planted around the school with students to place tree guards around in the coming weeks. Well done to Mrs Burrows and the SRC as well as Mr Wall and Mr Briscoe for helping dig the holes.

GLIMPSE INTO 6A

6A are excited to be back in the classroom with their friends and learning hard. This Term we are going to be busy with lots of exciting events happening to finish off our final year of Primary School. Many are learning their parts for Readers Theatre performances that will be presented during Book Week (Week 3) on Tuesday and Wednesday. The week will conclude with a Costume day and Parade on the Friday where students have the opportunity to dress up.

MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC

Welcome back to Term 4 everyone. Unfortunately due to stage 3 restrictions our wonderful music tutors are still unable to return to teach. Choir is on hold until restrictions ease also. As you know things are constantly changing, as so soon as we get the green light to resume, you will be notified.

Mr Ivan Bevan and Mr Sam Blaxland will not be teaching for the remainder of the year. I am currently organising reminder invoices for outstanding payments for Term 2, please check your child’s bag over the coming weeks for these. Mr Bevan and Mr Blaxland are happy to discuss options for those who have paid last term’s fees in full, again please check for your note regarding this matter.

Any full payments made for Piano, Guitar, Drums, Clarinet and Saxophone will be credited for this term when we recommence music lessons.

I know that our tutors like myself are super keen to get back to making music with students when we can. Please keeping practicing everyone so that we are ready to go!

Thank you for your understanding during this crazy time.

BOOK WEEK

We will be celebrating Book Week in Week 3. The schedule of activities is as follows:

• Tuesday 19 Wednesday 20: Readers Theatre Performances.

• Thursday 21 Oct: Book Fair (cash sales only for students).

• Friday 22 Oct: Book Costume Dress Up Day and Parade.

The theme for this year’s Book Week is “Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds” and students can dress to that theme OR as their favourite book character.

Further information about the Book Fair will be coming home this week. This includes information for parents who would prefer to go to Collins Booksellers in Peel Street to buy books directly from then. I will again be drawing out one student’s name who has supported the book fair to win a $50 voucher from Collins Booksellers. The tickets for that draw (which can be used at the school Book Fair or at Collins) will be attached to the information sheet.

Thank you for your support. I’m looking forward to a wonderful week of celebrating and sharing books!
