Welcome to Term 4! I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday and are feeling refreshed for a very busy term.

Students rock cyber-bullying workshopTowards the end of Term 3, ‘Project Rockit’ visited our school and spoke to students about cyber-bullying. In the holidays, they emailed us to congratulate our school community on the way we welcomed the Project Rockit team to our school, the reception from the students and their eagerness to learn. They also complimented student enthusiasm, information retention and involvement. We know that we have one of the best schools in the area and are very proud when our students get the recognition they deserve.

Welcome one and all!I would like to extend a warm welcome to the new families that have recently joined our school community and take this opportunity to remind all families that joining our P&C committee is a great way to support our school.

Once again, I encourage all parents and carers to be active in our school community and not to hesitate to make an appointment with your child’s teacher if you have any concerns. Face-to-face interviews often solve many issues more efficiently as all parties involved are on the same page.

Invictus Games approachingWith the Invictus Games are just around the corner, competitors have arrived from around the world and are preparing for the opening ceremony this weekend. To have students from CPS and their parents participating in the games atmosphere, the acknowledgement of adversity and the resilience to go on has inspired us all. Recently, I listened to a competitor from Albury telling the story of his journey and was moved by his courage and resilience.

We must encourage our children to develop resilience and work things out themselves. As parents, our natural response is to try to solve problems for our children, but is this really helping them? Sometimes the best thing is to give them the tools they will need to solve things independently and be there to support them. Although this may be hard at times, it is well worth the investment in the end.

Curriculum overhaulNSW Department of Education is currently undergoing a curriculum overhaul across every stage of learning, from Kindergarten to Year 12. With this type of review, there are many opportunities for our staff and students to have their say and develop new learning from various avenues. This is an exciting time in education because new learning inspires us to achieve our expectations.

I’m hoping that everyone got some rain recently and have got their fire plans ready as a long and hot summer approaches.

Figuring out fractions!Students in Miss Moores' Flying Fox class participated in a practical Math lesson on Tuesday morning.

The Flying Foxes used visual aids to help them understand fractions, They worked together as a class to put their fractions into descending order and to determine if any fractions were the same.

Kindergarten crack the case!As you may know, Kindergarten students enjoy their weekly Science session with Mr Strachan every Tuesday.

In this week's session, the weather prevented them from going on their planned walk to observe the school, but they still had the chance to explore the environment surrounding their classroom.

Students sketched some of the things they could see and learned about what these things were made of!

Playing paddocks in Quokka classroomStudents in Mr Cook's Quokka class took a brain-break on Tuesday morning after their Math session to play friendly, yet competitive games of 'paddocks'. Students were having so much

fun that they barely noticed they were working on their problem-solving skills!

Eloise BlackWhat do you believe the Invictus Games are about? To recognise the soldiers that served and came back with an injury. We will pay our respects to them and be grateful that we have brave people to fight for our country.

I am looking forward to learning about their experiences in wars and how they lived and survived. I would also like to see Prince Harry and Megan at the Invictus Games.

Inspired by the Invictus Games!

Willow profits from increased office privacy!A new door has been installed in the front office to increase the privacy of staff and parent meetings in Mrs Baily's office.

Willow is having a great time pretending that she doesn't know how to use her new doggy-door! She is especially enjoying all the extra treats she is getting as students and staff try to teach her how to use it.

Please see the office ladies before proceeding through the new door into Mrs Baily's office.

Blake KeenesWhat are you looking forward to?I'm looking forward to seeing everyone trying hard and getting good outcomes. I'm also looking forward to taking in the atmosphere - it will be amazing!

I can't wait to go!

Victoria HeuverlingWhat are you hoping to experience?I'm hoping to have fun and really enjoy the Invictus Games with my friends. I'm looking forward to seeing the way athletes compete and enjoy themselves too.

I would really like to see the pole vaulting - that would be very cool!
