Welcome!
Today, I will be introducing you to our third grade classroom. Please write down any questions you have and I will answer them at the end of the presentation.
All About Me
• My background– I grew up in
West Bloomfield , MI.– I attended Northwood
University and received my Masters degree from Walden University in Reading and Literacy.
• My experience– I’ve been teaching for 7
years.– I have also taught fifth
grade, but third is my favorite.

My Family
I have been married to my wonderful husband Robb for fifteeen years. In our spare time, we enjoy resting, relaxing, and watching our wonderful Detroit Red Wings! We have no children but have two dogs Arielle and Maddie.
Mr. & Mrs. Lewis on vacation in London, England.
Goals
• To give you the academic and social skills you need to progress to fourth grade.
• To provide a supportive and fun classroom environment.
• To help you make new friends and discover new interests.
Classroom Rules

Behavior Management
In my class, we utilize a four step system system.
Students who move their marker will lose privileges.
Students not pulling cards will receive rewards including ‘Caught being good
notes’, stickers, and no homework passes.
Reading
• I teach the five components of reading.
• As a grade level we work very hard at both enrichment and remediation.

Students will work on writing twice a week and English three times a week. Please know that the goal of writing at this time is for students to become more expressive, rather than to have excellent conventions.

Homework Policy
• Every night except Fridays (unless necessary)
• Reading every night for 15 minutes. Fill out reading log (in agenda). Please initial log.
• Fluency• Spelling
If homework is not complete students willmove a marker and complete the assignment during
class free time.
Homework is due the next day.
School Uniforms
• Knit polo style collared shirts or turtlenecks in light blue, navy, white, hunter green and yellow. Official Grassy Lake T-shirts and sweatshirts in any color may also be worn. Tucked in shirttails are preferred.
• Shorts, pants, skirts, skorts, jumpers and culottes in navy and khaki. Belts are preferred but optional.
• Tennis shoes or shoes with an enclosed heel are preferred. Sandals must have a heel strap.
• Uniforms may be purchased at JC Penney, Target, Bealls, Kmart, Kohl’s and Belk.

Agenda
All students must write their homework in their agendas
before 9 am. Neatness will be enforced.
Volunteers
All in class volunteers must be approved through the county office.
