GREETING (ELW p. 138) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. KYRIE (ELW p. 138) In peace, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, have mercy. For the peace from above, and for our salvation, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, have mercy. For the peace of the whole world, for the well-being of the Church of God, and for the unity of all,

let us pray to the Lord. Lord, have mercy. For this holy house, and for all who offer here their worship and praise, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, have

mercy. Help, save, comfort, and defend us, gracious Lord. Amen. CANTICLE OF PRAISE (ELW p. 140) Refrain: This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. 1 Worthy is Christ, the Lamb who was slain, whose blood set us free to be people of God. Refrain 2 Power, riches, wisdom and strength, and honor, blessing, and glory are his. Refrain 3 Sing with all the people of God, and join in the hymn of all creation: Blessing, honor, glory, and might

be to God and the Lamb forever. Amen. Refrain 4 For the Lamb who was slain has begun his reign. Alleluia. Refrain PRAYER OF THE DAY Let us pray….O God, your Son makes himself known to all his disciples in the breaking of bread. Open the eyes of our faith, that we may see him in his redeeming work, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. LET THE CHILDREN COME… FIRST READING: Acts 2:14a, 36-41 Today’s reading is the conclusion of Peter’s sermon preached following the giving of the Holy Spirit to the apostles on the day of Pentecost. The center of his preaching is the bold declaration that God has made the crucified Jesus both Lord and Christ. PSALM: Psalm 116:1-4, 12-19 SECOND READING: 1 Peter 1:17-23 The imagery of exile is used to help the readers of this letter understand that they are strangers in a strange land. Christians no longer belong to this age. Through the death of Christ we belong to God, so that our focus, faith, and hope are no longer on such things as silver or gold. GOSPEL ACCLAMATION (ELW p. 142) Alleluia. Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Alleluia. Alleluia.

GOSPEL: Luke 24:13-35 The colorful story of Jesus’ appearance to two disciples on the road to Emmaus answers the question of how Jesus is to be recognized among us. Here, he is revealed through the scriptures and in the breaking of bread.

SERMON “Walking with Jesus” HYMN: “You Have Come Down to the Lakeshore” #817

2 You know full well what I have, Lord: neither treasure nor weapons for conquest, just these my fish nets and will for working. Refrain

3 You need my hands, my exhaustion, working love for the rest of the weary-- a love that's

willing to go on loving. Refrain 4 You who have fished other waters; you, the longing of souls that are yearning: O loving

Friend, you have come to call me. Refrain

CREED (ELW p. 104) We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION Uplifted by the promised hope of healing and resurrection, we join the people of God in all times and places in praying for the church, the world, and all who are in need. SHARING OF THE PEACE The peace of Christ be with you always. And also with you. HYMN: “We Are An Offering” #692

We lift our voices, we lift our hands, we lift our lives up to you: we are an offering. Lord use our voices, Lord, use our hands, Lord, use our lives, they are yours: we are an offering. All that we have, all that we are, all that hope to be, we give to you, we give you. We lift our voices, we lift our hands, we lift our lives up to you: we are an offering, we are an offering.

OFFERING PRAYER LORD’S PRAYER Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. BLESSING May the One who brought forth Jesus from the dead raise you to new life, fill you with hope, and turn your mourning into dancing. Almighty God, Father, ☩ Son, and Holy Spirit, bless you now and forever. Amen.
