Opening HymnHow Great Thou Art
UMH 77
O Lord my God! when I in awesome wonder consider all the
worlds thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, thy power throughout
the universe displayed. Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee; how great thou art, how great
thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee; how great thou art, how great thou art!
When through the woods and forest glades I wander, and hear
the birds sing sweetly in the trees; when I look down from lofty
mountain grandeur and hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze;
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee; how great thou art,
how great thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee; how
great thou art, how great thou art!
And when I think that God, his Son not sparing, sent him to die,
I scarce can take it in; that on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, he bled and died to take away my
sin; Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee;
how great thou art, how great thou art! Then sings my soul,
my Savior God to thee; how great thou art, how great thou art!
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow in humble adoration, and there proclaim, my God, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee; how great thou art,
how great thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee; how
great thou art, how great thou art!
FORMED
Scripture Lesson Psalm 111
Praise the Lord!
I thank the Lord with all my heartin the company of those
who do right, in the congregation.The works of the Lord
are magnificent;they are treasured
by all who desire them.God’s deeds are
majestic and glorious.God’s righteousness
stands forever.God is famous
for his wondrous works.The Lord is full of mercy
and compassion.God gives food
to those who honor him.God remembers
his covenant forever.God proclaimed his
powerful deeds to his people and gave them what had belonged to other nations.
God’s handiwork is honesty and justice;
all God’s rules are trustworthy—they are established always and forever:
they are fulfilled with truth and right doing.
God sent redemption for his people;God commanded
that his covenant last forever.Holy and awesome is God’s name!
Fear of the Lord is where wisdom begins;sure knowledge is for all
who keepGod’s laws.God’s praise lasts forever!
Gospel ReadingMark 1:21-28
Rev. Jonathan Heifner
Jesus and his followers went into Capernaum. Immediately
on the Sabbath Jesus entered the synagogue and started teaching. The people were amazed by his
teaching, for he was teaching them with authority, not like the legal experts. Suddenly, there in the
synagogue, a person with an evil spirit screamed, “What have you to
do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us?
I know who you are. You are the holy one from God.”“Silence!” Jesus said, speaking
harshly to the demon. “Come out of him!” The unclean spirit shook him
and screamed, then it came out.Everyone was shaken and
questioned among themselves, “What’s this? A new teaching
with authority! He even commands unclean spirits and they obey him!”
Right away the news about him spread throughout the
entire region of Galilee.

DoxologyI Have Decided to Follow Jesus
TFWS 2129 (stanza 1)
I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus
no turning back, no turning back.
The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, forever. Amen.

Sending HymnLet All Things Now Living
TFWS 2008
Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving
to God the Creator triumphantly raise
who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us,who guides us and leads
to the end of our day.God’s banners fly o’er us; God’s light goes before us,a pillar of fire shining forth
in the night,till shadows have vanished and darkness is banished,
as forword we travel from light into light.
The law God enforces, the stars in their courses
and sun in its orbit obediently shine;
the hills and the mountains, the rivers and fountains,
the deeps of the ocean proclaim the Divine.
We, too, should be voicing our love and rejoicing;
with glad adoration a song let us raise,
till all things now living unite in thanksgiving:To God in the highest hosanna and praise!
