This packet will help orientate you to the “sailing life” and should provide you some guidance and insight (please don’t be overwhelmed). Remember sailing is supposed to be fun! The Amel Maramu 46 is Henri Amel and Jacques Carteau designed, Chantiers Amel built (in France). While company literature designates her as the Maramu 48, she is better known as the Maramu 46. The 46 Maramu is truly a classic ready to circumnavigate shorthanded or singlehanded. Amel stopped production of the 46 in 1989. The design lineage continued on with the Maramu name and in the 1990′s introduced the 52/53 Super Maramu. In fact, Amel still produces a 64ft vessel based on the original designs. Construction: All Amels, since 1967, have been built with Amel designed biaxial fiberglass cloth. This is a flat woven fiberglass cloth that is much stronger in sheer and tension than conventional mat and woven roving laminates. The hull is molded in one piece incorporating one piece/nonspliced lengths of biaxial cloth running from bulwark, down through the keel/centerline, and up to the opposite bulwark. In the same fashion the next series of laminates run from the bow lengthwise to the stern, again, employing one piece/nonspliced length of biaxial cloth. Boats are not made this way anymor! The Amel 46 is ready to sail the seven seas in comfort and safety.

● On dock: 110V AC systems off & shore power disconnected

● Loose items off deck (BBQ, cushions, lines in water)

● Wheel brake off, check lock to lock

● Swim ladder up & gates closed

● Dinghy tied up short & ready to tow (outboard tilted up)

● Engines on (exhaust water, oil pressure, temp)

ATTENTION: Do not swim under the keel when checking the anchor in shallow water.

Note: If time permits, hosing off the deck of the boat with freshwater from the dock is

always preferred

Attention: Your judgment can be impaired more then normal when on water. While underway and making way, always operate yourself in a sober manner for the safety of your crew, other boaters and respect all property on Cerulean and any other vessels. Operating any vessel while under the influence of alcohol is against the law.


Daily Schedule (Standard)

● Water pressure pump on. Anchor/cabin lights off (Captain)

● 0655 Engine checks (e.g. strainer, coolant, V belt, oil)

● 0700 Engine on, 1hr charge batteries (Captain)

● Check bilge (pump out manually daily if offshore)

● Read, relax or swim.

● Unless noted: Get your own breakfast

● Wash down cockpit (Mate or others)

● 0800 news & weather report (AM 780)

● Passage plan for day (Navigator)

● 1100 underway

● Lunch (either underway or on anchor)

● 1700 on anchor for night

● Engine on, 1hr charge batteries

● Sunset, anchor light on

● Read, watch TV in salon, whatever you want!

● 2200 Before bed, water pressure pump off

The morning routine should remain as above, after that, the schedule may be subject to change due to weather, Captains/1st Mates mood or other circumstances.


Crew Duty Rotation


Misc. Systems Information Fuel System: The fuel tank is located on the starboard side of the boat outboard of the walk through to the aft cabin.

● Fuel Capacity: 132 Gallons or 500 litres ● Fuel consumption is approximately: 1 GPH @ 2000 RPM (~6kts) and 2 GPH

@2500 RPM (~7KTS) Note: Filler for the fuel is located on the starboard side deck, opened by a winch handle. *PLEASE ENSURE FILLER IS TIGHTENED UP AFTER USE. Fuel gauge is a vertical dipbatten which is suspended from the filler cap, this is located in the cockpit locker next to the wheel. Fuel supply is isolated when the engine battery is switched off. In addition to this there is also a manual shut off valve on base of the tank itself
