DIFFICULTIES IN HOSPITALITY PROFFESIONS
Slovenia would, as most European countries, like to be touristically and gastronomically oriented. We have many natural beauties, interesting folk rituals, and rich cultural heritage, however, we lack appropriate personnel. Proffesions in hospitality field are also insufficiently encouraged by the Slovene government.

OUR SCHOOL…
Secondary School for Catering and Tourism provides the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to directly turn to account on the labour market in the tourism industry, especially in the hotel, catering and beverage industries.
The curriuculum includes general, vocational, gastronomic, touristic and economic subjects as well as compulsory work placement as preparation for access to careers.
The main educational objectives of our school focuses on personal growth and development, capacity for professional mobility and flexibility, creativity, critical awareness and social involvement, communicative skills in both mother tongue and, especially in vocational fields in foreign languages
The student shall be trained to work and act creatively and independently and shall understand the neceserity of continual further education in the life long learnig process

Possible career avenues: Cooking and serving in smaller establishments
Possibilities for further studies: Further studies in catering manager course.
4 YEAR PROGRAM:Possible career avenues: Cooking and serving in restaurants,
canteens, hospitals. Organizing excursions, oredring transfers, organizing accomodations, supervising implementation of services.
Possibilities for further studies: Further studies at post- secondary school for catering and tourism or at a high school for hotel and tourism.
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
International project Leonardo da Vinci, allows students and teachers to gain professional work experience.
In the past 10 years we have made friendly contacts with partners from Germany,Austria, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, France, Belgium, Estonia,Latvia, Ireland, Norway and Poland

2002: => “Welcome Europe” practical education “ Professional language in European” exchange of
teachers of foreign languages The Project took place simultaneously In Germany,
Spain and Austria. 2003 “The challenges of five star hotels”: practical education of
students in Spain
2009 “Rise of quality through european study ways” practical education of students in Spain and Germany.

We have also received three awards for our projects on a state level:– Golden apple for the quality of the project of
mobility in 2002 (category: teachers and mentors)– Silver apple for the quality of the project of
mobility in 2004 (category: students)– European language award in 2008 for the project
