Dear Contestant,

First a hearty “Congratulations” on qualifying your young competitor for

this year’s National Retriever Derby Championship.

Welcome to the West Central Missouri area. We have some of the best

land and water for retriever training and testing in the Midwest.

Sedalia has abundant restaurants and motels and campgrounds to make

your stay enjoyable all within minutes of the trial grounds.

Our designated training grounds have adequate land and water to keep

your dog ready and sharp for competition.

We owe a debt of gratitude to Bob and Barbara Hayden for the use of their

spectacular peoperty for the Inaugural National Derby Championship.

We are looking forward to meeting you and, most of all, want you to

The following “Guidelines” list important considerations for the use of the pre-National Training Grounds, thanks to the generosity of the owners, are available for our use. These are in no way meant to cover every possible consideration. When in doubt, use common sense and courtesy. Remember, we are invited guests on these properties. The Training Property sites are open from 8 am to 5 pm.

1. The properties listed in the Training Guide are all private grounds. We are their guests and should act accordingly.

2. The use of these grounds shall be coordinated through the Field Trial Committee and the random draws for property use.

3. No one may contact owners for individual or group use or access these properties except through the FT Committee.

4. The regulations listed for each property are in addition to these general guidelines.

5. Unless instructed otherwise close and secure all gates at all times.

6. Keep vehicles to the edges of fields and away from pond banks. Access fields only with UTV’s or 4-wheelers and when wet walk into all grounds.

7. Be wary of livestock and neighbors. Never shoot in the direction of any visible livestock or residence.

8. Unless otherwise noted, smoking on any property is prohibited, except in a closed vehicle.

9. Remove all of your trash, including spent shells, dead birds and any other trash you find. Do not leave food scraps or spilled dog food on the grounds. Some properties specifically prohibit feeding on the grounds.

10. Stay well-away from residences.

11. Dead birds must be disposed of in plastic bags in approved trash containers or may be dropped at the National Trial Grounds where they will be disposed of properly.

12. By entering any of these properties you acknowledge the risks inherent in outdoor sports whether such risks are apparent or hidden. All participants accept those risks and agree that they alone are responsible for the health and safety for themselves and others in their group. Participants, by their use of the properties, acknowledge that they hold the property owners, NRDC, its officers and members harmless and free of any liability for any accidents, injuries or damage to their persons or vehicles. Entering any the properties is further subject to the participants’ agreement to be held fully responsible for any damage, accidental or otherwise, to the property and any animals, facilities, buildings or equipment located on the property.

13. Enjoy these wonderful properties. But, please, be courteous to the landowners and their neighbors.

Note: For all properties in the Training Guide – No driving trucks on pond dams. Please use ATVs or walk-in.

Training Property #1David Callis — Sedalia, Missouri

Property Description: 204.57 acresPerimeter: 4,043 yards

Physical Address: 27882 Hwy HH, Sedalia, MO

Directions: FROM HQ: Start out going north on S Limit Avenue/ US-65 N. Drive to Highway HH. Take a right hand turn and go past EE Hwy to the next right. Take to the end, turn right. The property gate is on the right.

Notes on Property: Cattle pasture with 2 small ponds. There are two gates on southern side to enter. If wet, walk in only.

*** Please do not drive vehicles on the pond dams – ATV’s okay.


Training Property #2Mike Brown–1 — Sedalia, Missouri

Property Description: 58.91 acres Perimeter: 2,217 yards

Physical Address: 23220 Radio Hill Road, Sedalia, MO

Directions: FROM HQ: Start out going north on S Limit Avenue/ US-65 N toward Plaza Avenue. Continue to follow US-65 N. Take highway 65 to HH.Turn right and it’s 200 feet on the right – nter at blue gates.

Notes on Property: Hay field with large lake. If wet park by gate. 7 minutes from HQ.



Training Property #3Mike Brown–2 — Sedalia, Missouri


Physical Address: 16874 Hwy O Sedalia, MO

Directions: FROM HQ: Start out going north on S Limit Avenue/ US-65 N toward Plaza Avenue. Continue to follow US-65 N – Drive 4.72 miles – Turn right onto Highway HH. – Drive 5.99 miles – Turn left onto Highway O/MO-O. – Drive 6.07 miles – The property is on the right.

Notes on Property: Cattle pasture with lake in center surrounded by trees. If wet park at gate and walk.



Training Property #4David Wolfe — Sedalia, Missouri


Physical Address: 31409 Wingate Road, Sedalia, MO

Directions: FROM HQ: Start out going south on S Limit Avenue/ US-65 S toward Greenridge Road . Continue to follow US-65 S. – Drive 4.21 miles – Turn left onto Anderson School Road . – Drive 1.2 miles – Turn right onto Wingate Road. – Drive 0.70 miles – The property is on the left.

Notes on Property: Rolling cattle pasture with large 20-acre lake with steep dam. Hay bales in fields with trees in background.



Training Property #5Alan Allmon–1 — Green Ridge, Missouri

Property Description: 48.81 acres Perimeter:1,974 yards

Physical Address: 17230 White Road, Green Ridge, MO

Directions: FROM HQ: Start out going south on S Limit Avenue/ US-65 S toward W 32nd Street. – Drive 0.05 miles – Take the 1st right onto Greenridge Road. – Drive 0.43 miles – Greenridge Rd becomes Highway B. – Drive 4.64 miles – Turn left onto Highway E/MO-E. – Drive 2.96 miles – Turn right onto Cottage School Road. – Drive 0.76 miles – Take the 1st left to stay on Cottage School Road. – Drive 0.50 miles – Take the 1st right onto White Road. – Drive 1.48 miles – The property is on the left.

Notes on Property: Technical pond with mounds to run from. If wet park on road and walk.



Training Property #6Alan Allmon–2 — Green Ridge, Missouri


Physical Address: 316790 Bryson Road, Green Ridge, MO

Directions: FROM HQ: Start out going south on S Limit Ave/US-65 S toward W 32nd Street. – Drive 0.05 miles – Take the 1st right onto Greenridge Road. – Drive 0.43 miles – Greenridge Rd becomes Highway B. – Drive 4.64 miles – Turn left onto Highway E/MO-E. – Drive 2.96 miles – Turn right onto Cottage School Road. – Drive 0.76 miles – Take the 1st left to stay on Cottage School Road. – Drive 0.50 miles Take the 1st right onto White Road. – Drive 0.75 miles – Take the 1st left onto Bryson Road. –Drive 0.25 miles–

Notes on Property: Cattle pasture with 5-acre lake on south side of road and bean field on north side of road. Use of North side subject to beans being harvested.

Continue to follow US-50 W. – Drive 29.35 miles – Turn right onto NW 121st Road. – Drive 0.98 miles – Take the 1st left onto NW 200th Road. – Drive 1.23 miles – The property is on the left.

Directions: FROM HQ: Start out going north on S Limit Avenue/US-65 N and go approximately 2.5 miles to HH.

Turn East on HH and go 3 miles to EE.

Turn North on EE, 1.6 miles to the “Wood Dale Farm” sign.
