Web based weighbridge system at Ankit Steel where remote users can have an access to the system running in the plant.

Existing concerns:

The present weigh bridge system runs on an isolated standalone mode and one needs to be present physically to view the system and take different reports

The existing system does not have any mechanism for amendments of deleted files; hence one cannot track what has been deleted.

The multi weighing and different product weighing process is cumbersome. One has to undergo the weigh mode number of times based on different products and there is a delay in this process. Not adequate information on pending trucks outside the gate

Proposed system:

We intent to develop an application where the users at factory will enter data into the system as they have been doing till date. Once a truck is loaded and placed on the weigh bridge the required reading will be pulled into the system automatically and once the data is saved, it will be stored in the web server database. Since the web server database will have all the data, hence you can view whatever reports and other details even sitting from Kolkata or any other remote location where internet connectivity is available.

It would provide centralized control of application, security and data. Accessing, managing, debugging and updating the application will be easy. Bandwidth requirements will be minimal 512 KBPS. It is advisable to keep one backup connection

from different ISP. We will provide a backup system and necessary backup needs to be taken. Any computer with latest version of IE/Firefox browser will be able to access the application. You

don’t need any additional hardware or software for this. Each machine needs to have windows XP operating system

Remote users from any location can access the system whenever desired.

Licenses Required (need to purchase web server space with the following)

1 number Windows Server 2003 1 number SQL Server 2005 1 domain name

Development Platform: We will develop it in .NET 2.0 framework using SQL server 2005/2008. For reporting we will use Crystal Report / SSRS

Schematic Architecture

The proposed system will have the following security issues

1. Authenticated session. User need to provide necessary UID/PWD to access the application. This comes by default when the system is being developed

2. Role based security. Each user will have pre-defined role (s) e.g. End User, Supervisor, Manager, Admin, etc. Admin can assign (or cancel) rights for each user. This is additional requirement and we can develop this if required at extra costs.

Scope of work:

Based on our initial study we understand few features in your existing software are not operational. Considering you need all the features and reports demonstrated to us the time frame and costs for developing the system will be X days and Rs Y. Additional reports and other features not included in the present scope of work, however if desired can be added and will be treated as a separate scope of work.
