In 1947, our communities in the Connecticut River area joined with Sinclair Weeks and his family to build and furnish a new hospital. Over the last 71 years Weeks Medical Center has grown to provide vital healthcare to our communities. Today, Primary Care and Outpatient Services are the most pressing needs in the region, but we do not have the adequate and appropriate space in which to deliver them.

With our recent affiliation with North Country Healthcare, our patients have greater access to a wider variety of specialty services. Lancaster physicians offices and our existing Primary Care and Outpatient services have long outgrown the Physicians Office building. The building is outdated (1970) and it severely impacts our ability to upgrade and improve our Primary Care and specialty services. Our providers and patients have long been adversely affected by the inefficient, small 17,000 square foot detached building located across busy Middle Street. A new building is needed that is more accessible to patients and provides the appropriate capacity for current and growing needs. This new space is crucial to our mission of providing high-quality healthcare close to home.

Weeks Medical Center is undertaking a $4 million Building Campaign to build a new Lancaster Patient Care Center of approximately 42,000 square feet (see page 4 for details). In addition to enhanced services and space, the new center will allow us to attract and retain the top healthcare providers that our communities need. Our recent four-star hospital rating and the top honors accorded our healthcare providers show our commitment to both quality healthcare and good stewardship of the financial resources our communities share with us.

The Weeks Medical Center 2018 Building Campaign for the new Lancaster Patient Care Center will require the commitment of all of our communities. Whether you are a full-time resident, second home/camp owner, business owner, or visitor, we know that you rely on Weeks for your healthcare. We hope that you, just like the Weeks family and the communities 71 years ago, will offer your generous support for this long-overdue upgrade. Your support is crucial to our mission to provide high-quality healthcare close to home and for generations to come.

BETTER CONNECTED The new three-floor Lancaster Patient Care Center of approximately 42,000 square feet will be connected to and integrated into the existing hospital facility.

IMPROVED ONSITE SPACES The new addition will provide a significantly improved space for Primary Care, more accessible space for Dialysis and Wound Care, and dedicated spaces for Outpatient Specialty Services such as Allergy / Otolaryngology, Oncology, Pediatrics, Child Development, Sleep, ENT, Telemedicine, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Urology, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Podiatry, and Behavioral Health.

ACCESSIBLE SPACE Appropriately sized and private consultation space will be provided for patients to meet with our medical professionals.

CONNECTED SPACE Patients, providers, and other caregivers will be able to go between the new medical offices and the hospital with ease and safety.

BUILT-IN EXPANSION Additional room for expansion is included in the plan to accommodate other critical needs as they arise. This allows the new center to meet current and future demands so that our ability to provide high-quality care is never compromised.

ATTRACT TOP HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS A new and improved Lancaster Patient Care Center will help attract and retain quality medical care providers to better serve our patients.

“We give because accessible health care is important to everyone. In our rural communities critical care hospitals are essential. It’s especially important that charitable giving supplement the limited resources available to sustain our own medical services.” Sarah Hill, Dental Herb Company owner
