Weekly Newsletter Our aucon planning is in full swing! Please see the informaon below for recent updates. Each class will collect cash donaons this year in lieu of class baskets. You should have received an email from Sign Up last week to submit a donaon. We hope this will simplify the process of finding items and delivering them to the school. Once donaons are collected, each class will be listed as a sponsor on an item. For example, “Weekend Getaway to Branson, sponsored by the Third-grade class at St. John.” Please try to deliver donated items by Oct 1. If items cannot be delivered by Oct. 1, please email the aucon commiee with a descripon of the item so we can include it in the printed catalog. We would love to have more underwriters and adversers in the catalog. Please contact us or email [email protected] if you can help! Purchase your ckets today! Bring your family and join the school community for a FREE night of FUN, space adventure style! Family Fun Night will include kids games, crafts and shopping at the Friday night auction! Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.

Eudora Pool Party

Having a fun summer party, birthday bash, or family reunion? Invite all your friends for a 2-hour pool party at the Eudora pool next summer 2019. Cater your party with a $50 gift card from Hyvee and a gift certificate for a 16" decorated cookie from Eileen's Colossal Cookies. Parties are available Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 7-10pm during the pool season. It needs to be reserved in advance, and spots do go quickly. All Things Aquatics begin May 1, 2019. In honor of the Feast of Saint Francis,

Saint John School is participating in

our annual Humane Society Drive.

Please consider bringing in donations

for our local Humane Society shelter.

Items of greatest need include: bleach,

block style cheddar cheese (for dog

training), dog treats, electric heating

pads, hot dogs, milk replacer, kongs, laundry detergent, towels,

animal nursing bottles, used paper towel and toilet paper rolls, cat

toys, catnip, canned pumpkin, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes,

peanut butter, printer paper, T-shirts, scrubbing brushes, and

sponges. Just like Saint Francis, the students of Saint John School

care for all of God’s creations and strive to be stewards of the

earth. Collection ends October 12.

Students are invited to bring one special small stuffed animal that they can bless during the

Mass.

The blessing of pets will be at the south end of the school parking lot.

We are collecting empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls for Family Fun Night. Please bring donations to

the office. Thank you!

There will be Reservoir Adoration this Wednesday, October 3, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the church.

Everyone is invited to attend some or all of this time of music, reflections, and silent prayer. Reconciliation will be available.

The Archdiocese requires personal safety training for students. St. John School has invited Happy Bear from Sunflower House in Kansas City to visit with kindergarten, first, and second graders on Friday, October 5. For more information, contact SJ Counselor Lauren Yoshinobu at [email protected] .

Extended Care is available October 17, 18, 19 from 7am-6:00pm. Space is limited so please sign up with Mrs. Hirt in Extended Care at [email protected] by Oct. 12 to ensure your child has a spot. Fees are: $20-half day and $30-full day ($32 for Oct. 19) if reservation is made by October 12. A $5.00 late fee per day will be charged for registering after October 12. Please provide a sack lunch for Wednesday and Thursday. Snacks will be provided. Friday will be a pizza party lunch. Fun activities include: games, relays in the gym, crafts, movies, and recess.

resolve conflicts peacefully and do not hold grudges. You are good at compromising and quick

to forgive, which makes you a good friend and classmate. You are not anxious or worried be-

cause you trust in God’s goodness and grace, even in difficult times.
