I know it doesn't seem that way at times as we work to discern our future as a congregation and how to fund it. But our Scripture passages from Job and Mark this week reveal that our perspective and priorities play an important role in the church as well. God challenges Job's perspective and gives him what we Southerner's refer to as a "good tongue lashing." The Gospel lesson features disciples James and John, also in need of some perspective and an adjustment of priorities as the two ask Jesus for favored status among the 12. While Jesus's response is not as harsh as God's address to Job they both seem to be asking the question "Who do you think you are?" It's a legitimate question both then and now. Stewardship is about more than money.I know it doesn't seem that way att imes as we work to discern our futureas a congregation and how to fund it .But our Scripture passages from Joband Mark this week reveal that ourperspect ive and priorit ies play animportant role in the church as well.

God challenges Job's perspect ive andgives him what we Southerner's refer toas a "good tongue lashing." The Gospellesson features disciples James andJohn, also in need of some perspect iveand an adjustment of priorit ies as thetwo ask Jesus for favored status amongthe 12.

While Jesus's response is not as harsh asGod's address to Job they both seem tobe asking the quest ion "Who do youthink you are?" It 's a legit imate quest ionboth then and now.
