Details Regarding Upcoming Senior Dates and Events

Senior Life Experience- Earlier in the school year, a group of students and volunteers participated in a Life Experience event. The purpose of the event is to “meet students where they are in their lives, to build community through tearing down walls of social norms, and to build bridges of lasting change in their own lives, as well as in their schools and communities.” The reviews were so positive, that we wanted all of the OHS Seniors to have the opportunity to participate in this event before moving on to their next phase in life. There are multiple dates scheduled because only 50 students can participate at one time. This is not mandatory; we just wanted to make it available to all those who were interested. Mr. Roberson will have further information in upcoming Weekly Chargers along with a permission slip.

MS State Aid- This is just a reminder that if your student has applied for MTAG or MESG, Ms. Breithaupt will submit GPA and ACT scores by April 30th. If you get an email telling you to talk to your counselor about getting ACT scores and GPA sent, you can disregard. Ms. Breithaupt will take care of it for all students.

Hall of Fame- 154 Seniors with a 3.0 or higher were added to the “Hall of Fame” course in Schoology. All Seniors with a 3.0 or higher are eligible to submit an application for the OHS Hall of Fame if he/she has participated in a minimum of six (6) activities (academic or extra-curricular) sponsored by Oxford High School. Students must submit an essay and resume through the Schoology course by Wednesday, April 19th at 4:00 pm. The essay should be no more than 1 page in length and the topic is... "Why should I be a member of the Hall of Fame?” The information you provide will be shared with the Oxford High School Faculty who will then vote on students for the Hall of Fame. The 12 students with the highest total points will be members of the 2017 Oxford High School Hall of Fame and recognized at Awards Night.

Awards Night- There are a few changes to Awards Night this year. We usually only have Ole Miss, Northwest, and MS State present academic scholarships to OHS seniors. This leaves students planning to attend other universities that deserve recognition out of the awards ceremony. This year we will be recognizing all seniors who have received an academic/athletic scholarship to a college/university who would like to be recognized. Mr. Roberson will be calling out the names and awards not college representatives. In this form https://goo.gl/forms/VUsQa859sNhjFNZW2 , your student will need to list the name of the Academic/Athletic Scholarships received from the college or university he/she plans to attend. This information will be used for Awards Night on May 9th and/or Senior Signing Day on May 15th. It is not mandatory that Seniors are in attendance at Awards Night. It is the choice of the student and his or her family. I did include an option for students to say yes or no if they plan to attend Awards Night so that we can prepare for student presentations. If your student does not provide any information by Friday, April 28th, he/she will not be

presented with an award. Again, this information needs to be submitted by Friday, April 28th to give OHS staff adequate time to prepare for the Awards Night ceremony.

Scholarship Totals- If a student has received scholarships from schools other than the one listed for Awards Night and Senior Signing Day, please share that information with us. The link https://goo.gl/forms/GYtFXBzP8qjMZRuD3 can be used to submit additional scholarship totals, and we will include this information as an insert in the graduation program. Again we will not share the amount in the program, we will just name the scholarship and awarding institution. (For example, Bledsoe Scholarship University of Mississippi)

Senior Exit Inventory- All seniors must complete a Senior Exit Inventory in order for Ms. Breithaupt to know exactly where to send their final transcripts after graduation. This must be completed using the form https://goo.gl/forms/pqnCCChY8EJw63Cr2 before cap and gown pick up.

Senior Exams- SENIOR EXAM SCHEDULE Wednesday, May 17th - 1st and 2nd Period Exams Thursday, May 18th - 3rd and 4th Period Exams Friday, May 19th - 5th and 6th Period Exams Monday, May 22nd - Zero and 8th Period Exams **Seniors should report to the cafeteria each day @ 8:20 a.m. to begin exams. Once a student finishes both exams assigned for the given day, he or she will be allowed to leave.

Graduation Attire- Males- Khaki Pants, White Dress Shirt, Dark Tie or Bowtie, and Brown Shoes

Females- Dress or pants. If dress is worn, it should not be longer than the graduation gown. Please wear shoes that are comfortable and can easily be walked in without fear of falling. A wedge that attaches securely to the foot is a great option!

*Graduation Caps cannot be decorated.
