Program: Exchange Student Ermek Soronbaev of

Kyrgyzstan:

Ermek presented many photos and reported on a multitude of activities he had enjoyed with Rotary members and host families (Mansfields, Andersons, Hislops, Van Jepmonds). He had a rich experience with all his host families and was deeply appreciative.

To name a few of his trips:

Disneyland and Hollywood, California; Mariner baseball at Safeco Field; his first Christmas - in Spokane with the Mansfield clan; skeet shooting and bird hunting; golfing; Boeing museum of flight; skiing; drag races; Seattle Argosy cruise and Seattle space needle; airplane flight around Mt. St. Helens; visit to Grand Coulee Dam.

During his stay, Ermek gained a fresh concept of what Rotary tries to achieve. Service through Rotary, he said, gave him new ideas to enrich an otherwise boring life. In his words, "If there were more Rotary Clubs, the world would be a better place."

Announcements:

Member Terri Olson in the hospital for surgery today (biopsy).

Dave Apte named Mike Bell as a proposed member. At first reading, Mike's classification is Lawn and Tree Care, he is

sponsored by Bruce Stuwe.

Dan Weiss named those members who had contributed at

least $1,000 to the Lacey Rotary Scholarship Fund and earned their Creighton Hays award and the gift of a new pen. Dan also read for the first time, a proposed change to

the Bylaws of the Lacey Rotary Foundation, changing the rules for a quorum. This will be read again before a vote is

taken.

Ken Balsley had attended the District Conference and while there had received awards for the Lacey Rotary Club. He then

handed the District Membership Award to Dave Apte, and the District Literacy Award to Courtney Schrieve for their

efforts in these areas.

Program: John Huff, District GSE Program Director, introduced a visiting Group Study Exchange team from Norway/Germany:

Team Leader, Finn Gomaes introduced each of the team members, and they presented their personal bios, showed us many photos and gave us some information about Norway.

Annette majored in Political Science and had done her doctoral dissertation on the democratization of Serbia in Europe.

Guro, a student of micro-biology at Oxford, had focused on the placenta's ability to deliver nutrients to human babies.

sales:

We sold 9,563 tickets and Duck Dash 2010 should net

$50,000 for the Club; Kathy Houston's team, Community Ducks, sold the most (1,522) tickets; while Larry Blume did the personal best selling 360 tickets. On the day of the event,

1,600 tickets were sold.

The top twenty sellers will go on the Matt Kluh boat

trip. "Century Club" pins for more members who had sold at least 100 tickets will be announced and awarded at a later date.
