The Information Evening for this year’s Year 11 Ski Trip will take place on Tuesday 13th November, starting at 6pm in the Venue. If your child is going on this fantastic trip this year, this is a great opportunity to get all the information you need and to ask any questions you may have.

Yr 11 Ski Trip Information Evening

Messages from the Finance Office

If you have questions for the Finance Office, please get in touch using the email address [email protected] - please do not use the ParentPay messaging system as this mailbox is not monitored as frequently, so the response to your message may be delayed as a

result.

The Finance Office would like to remind parents to please check ParentPay and/or the School website on a weekly basis to make sure you are aware of all the current trips and activities, and the deadlines for signing up/payment. Payment for all trips will close at 2.30pm on

the date specified, unless the information about the trip states otherwise. Remember - If you have signed up and paid for a trip via

ParentPay, you do not need to return a permission slip as well; signing up via ParentPay will automatically provide the permission needed.

Tour du Mont Blanc - Summer 2019

We would like to invite you to join us for the Tour du Mont Blanc 2019 information evening with tour leader Mr Mike Bradford. The

evening will be held at Uffculme School (Dining Hall) on Tuesday 6th November, starting at 6.00pm

The TMB is Europe’s most popular Alpine walk and is deservedly regarded as one of the world’s great walks. Commencing from the

Chamonix Valley in France, we circumnavigate the Mont Blanc Massif trekking through three alpine countries along the way (France, Italy, and Switzerland). Covering a distance of about 170km (110 Miles) a

cumulative ascent and descent of approximately 9,000m – that’s equivalent to climbing Mount Everest. Brimming with incredible

vistas from high mountain passes, lush valleys and highway sized glaciers, alpine scenery does not get much better than this!

TMB is an undeniably challenging walk which requires a reasonable level of fitness and suitable walking experience. This is first and

foremost a walk with no glacier walking or rock climbing. Underfoot you will experience a variety of tracks and trails. Single-track paths,

gravel forest roads, ski pistes and sections of country lanes. There are many alpine villages along the route allowing time to soak up this

unique alpine atmosphere.

Much of the trek is above the treeline, so you can get extremes of weather; even in the months of July and August you can be greeted by beautiful sunny days, you might find yourself in downpours, and sometimes you’ll even have patches of snow. The mountains are full

of surprises – making this a true adventure

Open to Year 9 (Three Moor Challenge), Year 10, Year 11, Post Uffculme School pupils, Uffculme School Staff and Parents/Guardians

of pupils past and present.

For information prior to the meeting please contact either:

Mike Bradford (TMB organiser) - [email protected]

Paul Mitchell (School contact) - [email protected]

Further information will also be available on the School Bulletin and social media sites.
