Tax Centers — The
Schofield Barracks and Fort
Shafter tax centers are open
to all service members, family
members and retirees.
Schofield Barracks’ hours of
operation are Monday
through Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.,
on a walk-in basis only. The
Schofield Barracks Tax Cen-
ter is located in Building 648.

The Fort Shafter Tax Cen-
ter is located in Building
1599, Fort Shafter Flats. Fort
Shafter hours of operation are
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9
a.m.-3 p.m., by appointment
only. Call 655-1040 to make

Art and Essay Contest —
The Armed Services YMCA’s
annual art and essay contest
invites military children to
create artwork and essays on
this year’s themes, ―My Mili-
tary Hero‖ and ―My Military
Family.‖
Entries for the art contest
must be postmarked no later
than Feb. 19, and are for chil-
dren in grades K–6.
Students in grades 1-12
are asked to write their essay
about ―My Military Hero‖ and
to postmark entries no later
than March 19.
Winning entrees will be
displayed in a number of loca-
tions in the Washington D.C.
area, and winners will be rec-
ognized at a luncheon on
Capitol Hill.

AER Scholarships — Army
Emergency Relief Scholarship
opportunities for the 2010—
2011 academic year are now

Army families with under-
graduate college expenses for
their dependent children may

Scholarship Program, which
offers scholarships based on
financial need, academics,
leadership and achievement
for each academic year.
The Stateside Spouse Edu-
cation Assistance Program is
a need-based education assis-
tance program designed to as-
sist spouses/widows(ers) in
gaining the education re-
quired to allow them to qual-
ify for increased occupational
opportunities.

Pacific Aviation Museum
Offer — The Pacific Aviation
Museum Pearl Harbor is of-

program is a federally-funded
program that directly sup-
ports military members who
have chosen teaching as a ca-
reer.
The program provides direct
resource support, including
hiring, and allows up to a
$10,000 bonus for teaching in
high-needs schools.

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS — Kolekole Pass will be closed, Feb. 25-27, to allow live-fire training on
the Modified Record Fire range. Motor vehicles will not be able to drive from Schofield to the Waia-
nae side or vice versa during the closure. Range Division will have control measures in place to en-
sure the safety of the public, trainers and staff.

Tropics Recreation Center
Closure — Tropics Recreation
Center is now closed on Mon-
days. Renovations will begin on
Mar. 15, at this time they will be
closed every day until this pro-
ject ends. Renovations are tenta-
tively scheduled to end May 21.

The Hui O' Wahine gives scholarship and welfare money every year to
deserving students and organizations.
This is our way of giving back.
Our funds are generated from the profits of the Fort Shafter Thrift
Shop and from other fund-raising activities that we host.
If you are a member of the Hui O' Wahine, are a spouse of a member or
are a child of a member you may be eligible for a scholarship.
If you are an organization affiliated with the local military community
you may be eligible for our welfare grants.
Please remember, you must have been a member of the Hui O' Wahine
on or before January 31st 2010 in order for you, your spouse, or child
to qualify.
