Seven years ago, the creator of ladies wear Stolen started the label as a pet project while she spearheaded her team as Creative Group Head in advertising firm Ogilvy & Mather.
Since then, Elyn Wong has struck out on her own to concentrate on fashion and to inject her sense of sexy into her backless sartorial creations with her own label.
creative Juices“I felt that I needed an outlet to fuel my creativity. I first started designing for myself and I’ve always had a preference for backless details. It is edgy but yet not overtly sexy,” Elyn explains.
She adds, “The label grew quickly, so I quit [my job] in 2012 to concentrate fully on Stolen.”

As to why Elyn mainly focuses on a backless style, she says, “Every woman wants to feel sexy, but not everyone likes a plunging neckline.”

Elyn is also currently working on a series of bralets as well as non-backless pieces for her upcoming collections.
For women who wonder about the right kind of bra to wear with a backless dress, Elyn advises either silicon bras, a nice bra with a simple back or a bikini top.
“No beige or transparent straps, please!” she emphasies.

More surprisesLÈ Restaurant Asian Tapas Bar also carries pristine seafood such as the Alaskan Crab ($10, with a minimum of two orders) – a refreshing mix of crab meat, grapefruit cubes, cherry tomatoes and sesame dressing – and a Coral Trout Poached in Lobster Broth ($16 per 100g and $28 for the broth).
The trout is prepared at table-side and you’ll see the intricacies that go into preparing this comforting dish.
The Dirty Duck Pancake ($38 for half, $68 for whole) is their take on the Peking Duck. The duck has been stewed in a blend of spices and flash-fried until it is crispy.

Bull & Butcher is a good ol’ traditional steakhouse that opened in Plaza Singapura less than a year ago. It serves tender cuts of meat while you sit on booth seats covered with real cow hide.
Talk about not letting any part of the cow go to waste.
petite Cuts are popularBull & Butcher specialises in the Petit Tender ($28 for 160g) or Beef Shoulder Tender which lies below the more popular Flat Iron Steak cut. It is cut from the sixth-most tender muscle of the cow.
It is second only to the tenderloin fillet in terms of flavour and delicacy.
Jacco Klip, CEO of Trilogy Hospitality, who opened Bull & Butcher and the upcoming Vogue Club, says, “Discovered in 2010, the Petit Tender has remained relatively unknown as it requires a skilled butcher to extract it. We have a great relationship with our supplier who will be exclusive to us. So those who want to be the first to try it will have to do so at the Bull & Butcher!”
Meat, Meat & More MeatWe loved the Petit Tender for its
lean and, well, tender texture. This cut is not listed on the menu, so do ask the waiter about it. Diners who prefer soft, melt-in-your-mouth meat would love the Braised Australian Wagyu Beef Cheek ($38). Its gelatinous yet quickly-dissolved meat comes atop a bed of mash potatoes and gravy.
They also serve chilled seafood as well as other meats such as the Duck Breast, Orange ($28) and Australian Lamb Cutlets ($48). Side dishes are priced at $8 each and comprise a good mix of vegetables, as well as fried bar bites such as onion rings and potato wedges.

For example, in the first episode, Jo has seen footage of Kiran’s mother, Sophia, trying to force feed Kiran. She knows that she wasn’t watching someone who wanted to be unkind; it was just someone who was utterly desperate to get her child to eat.
In the past, Kiran had been sent to hospital with dehydration and Jo could see that, every meal time, Sophia was scared that Kiran would have to go to hospital if she didn’t force Kiran to eat something.
suPER nanny’s REcOMMEndatIOnsJo would then recommend certain changes. For Kiran, Jo had to put the basics in place:

Going out and hanging out in the park, and looking at the animals, was a really nice experience. It helped Sophia to relax and allowed her to eat a picnic lunch with Kiran without fussing and panicking.
It was good for her to learn that when she’s having a meal she can just be quiet; she doesn’t have to talk and fuss about food all the time. In this new relaxed environment, Kiran got on with it and ate her lunch.

Like many other Filipino women, she came to Singapore in search of employment and a better life. Unfortunately,
her presence in the family worsens the already strained relationships.
Nonetheless, Jiale, the young and troublesome son, starts to form a unique bond with Teresa, who soon becomes an unspoken part of the family.
The film boasts a small but impressive cast including veteran TV actor Chen Tian Wen, acclaimed actress Yeo Yann Yann of 881 and other films, and Filipino actress AngeliBayaniwhohasgainedinternational recognition for her films.

Goo Gooas mellow as everyone’s old favourite, “Iris” but, nonetheless, just as attractive.
MaGnEtIc Honestly, I approached the album with apprehension but was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to fall in love with it from the start.
Lead singer, John Rzeznik, was asked to come up with a one-word title for the album. The first word that he could think of to describe it was “magnetic”, and it certainly lives up to its name.
a stROnG staRtThe first single, “Rebel Beat”, is a great choice to kick off the album onahighnote.Afeel-goodtrackwith a likeable chorus, Rzeznik’s vocals suit this summer anthem really well.
This is followed with “When the World Breaks Your Heart” and “Slow It Down”, which are both very radio-friendly.
thE nEW IRIsI wasn’t as impressed by “More of You” and “Last Hot Night”, a prominently patriotic song, but I fell in love with the haunting
quality of “Bulletproofangel”, a slow yet intense track.
This could very well be the “Iris” of this album, with an aching chorus that sticks. “Keep The Car Running” is a good choice to listen to if you’re feeling down and out – with a strong message to “just keep holding on”, just as the band has over the past 28 years.
If this album is anything to go by, I’d say they’re definitely keeping up just fine.

What has been going on for you, apart from your shoW?sonja: Getting ready for the two Ts in my life that i can’t live without: Theatre and Travel! i just booked my tickets for a girls’ trip in November to Margaret River in Perth where i'll be enjoying another love of my life, good wine.
as for Theatre, i'm getting ready to start rehearsals at the end of the year for a fantastic play called "Firecrackers and Bombshells",
which will be running at the arts House in Jan 2014. mike: Loads of exciting stuff. What most people don’t know is that there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes. an example would be producing Radio Box Office on Power 98 – a segment where i preview and review new movies every week. DJs are also hired as hosts and emcees for various events which are always fun to do.jk: Work is 24/7! if i'm not on air, i'm
usually hosting events, producing segments, trailers, commercials or thinking about the show and how to make it better all the time.
What’s neW for you at poWer 98?mike: i’m now hosting a brand new night show with my awesome co-host, JK, called The Night Drive and it’s been such a blast talking about real issues that people on the street talk about all the time, from dating and relationships to current affairs, all with great sing-along music to boot!jk: i have to admit that co-hosting with Mike is quite literally an absolute breeze! i can be myself with no pretentiousness or fake personas; we get each other and whatever that goes out on air is 100 per cent honest, down to earth and real.
Who is your musical icon? jk: My mum. No matter how terrible her singing is, she isn't afraid to take on the microphone and hog it every time the karaoke machine at home is turned on. Confidence man, confidence.mike: i’d have to say that the one
person i’ve always looked up to in music is Jason Wade, the lead vocalist of Lifehouse. Not only is he possessed of pure, raw talent that includes singing and writing music, he’s also incredibly down to earth and keeps it real. Total champ, in my opinion.sonja: Having to pick one group or artist is like asking a parent to choose a favourite child. each artist or group fulfils a different part of me. a few names that come to mind are Blur, Portishead, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, The XX, Radiohead, elvis Presley, The National, Jamiroquai, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, The Rolling stones… aaah, i can't stop!
Which song Would you sing in the bathroom?mike: Hands down, it’s gotta be adele’s “someone Like You”, probably ‘cause the acoustics in the bathroom make me think i could actually hit those incredulous notes. Then, i towel off and realise that i can’t hold a tune to save my life.sonja: Good bathroom songs are ones that are super intense and emo with some shout-y parts that feel super shiok when you belt them out. “Wide awake” and “Fireworks” by Katy Perry, “Whadya Want From Me” from adam Lambert and “Ode to My Family” by The Cranberries are some of my faves. The acoustics in the bathroom mean you can really let it rip on these songs. sorry, neighbours! :)
hoW did your strangest request go?jk: Had a guy call me when he was in the toilet wanting to chat, and a lady who just went through a messy break up and didn't want me to put down the phone so i ended up consoling her for 1.5 hours after shift. and, the occasional creepy deep-breathing phoner. Fun!

sonja steinmetzsonja is of half-German, half-indian ethnicity. she's got a colourful on-air personality, and is bubbly, vibrant and confident. everyone loves her! sonja is definitely the next big thing in radio. she loves celebrity gossip, cats, leopard prints and a good meal shared with good friends.

Who does that?!?!?! i really love them to bits and thank my lucky stars that i ended up with this bunch of like-minded crazies.mike: Power 98 was the first radio station i ever listened to when i was 13 years old and the way i felt the first time i turned the radio on is still very much the same all these years later. We may be perceived as the underdog sometimes so our success with listeners is simply ‘cause we put in all the effort and hard work. That’s what i love, and am most proud of this. W

Too many of us neglect the simple things in life, like cherishing a loved one and having them around you. mike: Haha, i’d go way back to ancient Greece ‘cause i’ve always been fascinated by Greek mythology, their governance and way of life, and perhaps the chance to run nude into battle. Bet the ancient spartans had a field day fighting for their lives and comparing the length of their... swords.sonja: New York, June 2008. i was living overseas at that time and lost someone i loved very dearly back home that month. Being able to tell them everything that i didn't get the chance to then would be indescribable.

In fact, it is a unique example of an atoll (a ring-shaped coral reef with a rim circling a lagoon) with a high density of marine species. The pristine coral reef includes the North and South Reefs, and has extensive lagoons, and two coral islands.
aNgkoR WaT, CambodiaLocated in the Northern province of Siem Reap and spanning over 400km2 is Angkor Archaeological Park, which contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire from the 9th to the
15th Centuries. One of them is Angkor Wat,
consisting of an enormous temple pyramid surrounded by a moat. This grand towering monument can be considered the pinnacle of Khmer architecture, and is one of Southeast Asia’s most important archaeological sites.
baRoque ChuRChes of The PhiliPPiNesThese four Roman Catholic churches constructed between the 16th to 18th Centuries showcase the Chinese and Philippine craftsmen’s interpretation of the Baroque architectural style, with the fusion of European church design and construction with local materials as well as decorative motifs.
Two are located in the northern island of Luzon, one further south in the Visayas, and one in the middle of Manila. They had considerable influence on later church architecture, regionally.

luaNg PRabaNg, laosFusing Lao urban structures, traditional architecture and those built by the European colonial authorities in the 19th and 20th Centuries, Luang Prabang shows how two distinct cultural traditions can be blended.

Having evolved from a small fishing village in the late 14th or early 15th Century into a trading port into the bustling city that it is today, Melaka is a centre of Peranakan culture, so it’s a must to visit the Baba and Nyonya Peranakan Museum.
George Town is an impressive surviving representation of the British era from the end of the 18th Century. Both are cities to experience a slice of life from a historic era in Southeast Asia.
PhoNg Nha–ke baNg NaTioNal PaRk, VieTNamVietnam is home to one of the world’s two largest, most outstanding karst (limestone) ecosystems, with 65km of caves and underground rivers in Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park.
Massive tectonic changes have created a complex karst landscape with many geological features and spectacular formations. As a result visitors can get a visual treat of terraced, dry, suspended, dendritic [branching] and intersecting caves, as well as many endemic animal species.
Phong Nha–Ke Bang was initially a nature reserve, but has since been converted into a national park to protect aquatic habitats, primary and secondary forests, and rich species of flora and fauna.
Southeast Asia may not have certain historical or natural attractions such as those found in our Northern neighbours.
