We have reached the end of a very short but incredibly busy half term. We hope that all of our students have a safe and enjoyable half term. We look forward to greeting all of our students back on Monday 3rd June.

Y8 will start their GL transfer tests on the first two weeks back so they should aim to do some revision over the week, as well as having some fun, relaxation and family time.

Sports Day – change of date. Due to Rowley Park changing some of their fixtures, we are unfortunately going to have to change our date for sports day. We are currently liaising with the other schools to avoid any clashes and we will publish a new date soon. Apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause.

School Library Books Please could you have a check at home for any books that you don’t recognise – they may be our library books! If you find any please can they be returned to school so that they can be enjoyed by other students.

Many thanks.

Year 6 Trip to Condover Hall This year’s residential trip for Y6 is fast approaching. And we are holding an information evening for parents of students on the trip on Thursday 6th June at 6.00pm. If you are unable to attend the meeting the information will come home with your child the following day.

Overleaf you will find a kit list for the visit and on the following page more tips about what to bring.

Condover – packing tips...

Please do not bring mobile phones as school staff will make contact with home if necessary.

Likewise, please do not pack electrical items such as iPods or games devices as neither JCA or PMS can be held responsible for any loss or damage.

Valuable items should also be left at home and we recommend disposable cameras, to be used sensibly.

All bedding will be provided.

Any medication and pocket money will be collected by PMS staff on the Monday morning so please ensure it is easily to hand and not buried at the bottom of a suitcase. Children with inhalers will obviously need to keep hold of one whilst passing on a spare to us for safe-keeping. Please ensure the dosage instructions are clear and all medication is clearly labelled.

Please don’t go overboard with the packing (we are only away two nights and three days) as each child must be able to carry their own luggage to and from the coaches. Please use a luggage label and in addition to the writing the participant’s name, add our school name too.

One final suggestion - it might be a good idea for each child to use this list to do their own packing as it may help them identify their belongings to re-pack on the Wednesday!

Thank you!

Year 8 only - Visit to Alton Towers On Friday 12th July, we will be taking Year 8 pupils to Alton Towers as a reward for their hard work throughout the year. Pupils will need to arrive at school as normal but will return to school at approximately 6.00 pm (depending on traffic). The cost of this trip will be £26.50. All pupils should bring with them a packed lunch and a drink or, if they prefer, they can purchase food on site (though food prices tend to be high). School uniform is not required but pupils should be suitably and sensibly dressed and be mindful of the weather conditions.

Your child should bring with them a high factor sun cream and a hat, in line with our school policy relating to care in the sun.

On this occasion, pupils can also bring their mobile ‘phone with them to contact each other in the theme park and for us to contact them, if necessary. If they do bring their ‘phone, we will ask for their number just for use on that day for safeguarding purposes. Numbers will be shredded afterwards. Please note, though, that school cannot be responsible for loss or damage to ‘phones which are brought along on the day. It is the responsibility of individual children to take care of their ‘phone and other belongings.

Staff will be available to the pupils during the day either by phone or at the designated meeting point. The pupils are reminded they must follow all safety guidance for each ride and their movement around the site.

Children will be informed that if they do not show a positive attitude in lessons and around school during this term, then they will not be allowed to go on the trip. The school’s decision on this will be final and no discussion will be entered into.

Please make payment for the visit via Parent Pay by Friday 14th June 2019 if your child is attending the trip.

Please also let us know if your child has a current Merlin pass prior to making any payment. Payment will be for coach only £9.80.

Please also note that we will not be able to buy tickets for pupils who have not paid by this date and they will, therefore, not be able to go on the trip.
