On May 1st, I will conclude my 13th year as Director of Missions for Sarepta. I thank you for allowing

me the privilege of serving the churches of Sarepta. This role has been one of the most enjoyable

and fulfilling opportunities I have ever had in ministry. In large part, that is due to the pastors, staff

and churches of Sarepta. You are exceptional to work with. I look forward to the 14th year being

one of best ever as we seek to impact the region with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pittsburgh Partnership Opportunities – So if you can’t go to Pittsburgh, how can you be involved?

Let me suggest several ways:

• Pray for Send Pittsburgh and the Vintage Church and pastor Rob Wilton.

• Sign up to contribute some backpacks with school supplies in August. We are planning to have

250 backpacks in August and we still need commitments for 200 more.

• Plan for your next year’s budget to include the Pittsburgh Partnership as a line item to support

our efforts for teams to minister to them.

National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 2nd – If there has ever been a time for us to pray for our

nation, this is the time. With all the unrest and division in our nation right now, prayer is needed for

God to move, as he often does, in the midst of uncertainty, to make a powerful impact on our nation

with the Gospel of the LORD JESUS! I encourage you to make plans to participate in activities in your

community to pray for our nation.

Southern Baptist Convention, Birmingham, AL – June 11 -12 – It is not very often that we have the

opportunity to attend an SBC Annual Meeting because the locations are quite some distance. This

year, though it is still in a neighboring state, it is closer than most opportunities you might have to

attend. I would encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and make plans to attend. Ask

your church to elect you as a Messenger and participate in the activities surrounding the SBC.

Next Edition of the Vision will be in August – For the past several years, because things slow to

crawl during the summer months, we will not be producing our monthly edition of the Vision. We

will resume in August with our monthly publication. The E-News will continue throughout the

summer, so keep an eye out for Sarepta news and reminders coming via that source. You can also

check our webpage sareptabaptist.com to read the latest news and events for Sarepta.

This is a picture of a class at International Friends, led by Joan Gould (third from left). This group is affectionately called

“The Cooking Class.” Each week, they use the kitchen at Beech Haven and make tasty dishes, learning English,

American culture, and a lot about life along the way. They have even produced a cookbook! On this day, however,

they were doing something a little different….dying and decorating Easter eggs and talking about what Easter is all

about. Thank you to folks, like Joan, who use their areas of interest and expertise to connect with people and build

relationships that last a lifetime. People know when they are loved, regardless of language background...and these

folks know they are loved.
