Fort William First Nation Casino Rama Funds Education Awards

Programs:

Award Category Award Amounts

Secondary (High School) A maximum of three awards of $750.

Post Secondary - College A maximum of three awards of $1000.

Post Secondary - University A maximum of three awards of

$1500.

General Educational Development (GED) Programs

A maximum of three awards of $350.

Post Secondary – Community College A maximum of three awards of $400.

Apprenticeships A maximum of three awards of $500.

Special Needs A maximum of three awards of $750.

Program Award Descriptions: The Fort William First Nation Education Award program has been created as an incentive and reward for students who are graduating from a respective award category. More information on each category is available. The Casino Rama Education awards are separate from the regular FWFN graduating awards.

Program Award Eligibility: Member of the Fort William First Nation. Selection is based primarily on academic excellence. Awards will be given

to the highest three grade mark averages in each award category. Everyone is encouraged to apply. Closing Date: Students must complete an application package by July 31st, 2015. How to apply: Application packages can be picked up at:

Position Title: Director of Economic Development, Permanent Position Position Description: The Director of Economic Development shall be responsible for planning,

managing, and providing oversight for the activities and operations of Fort William First Nation’s Economic Development Department and initiatives for business retention, promotion, marketing, and expansion.

Major Responsibilities: • Plan, manage, and coordinate FWFN’s economic development effort; • Develop and assist in the implementation of FWFN goals-objectives and policies / procedures related

to economic activities. • Seek out new economic development opportunities and funding sources; • Oversight of Public Works department including related long-range planning and budgeting; • Work with outside agencies and professional consultants as necessary; • Review policies and procedures of various departments and recommend improvements which may

increase economic development opportunities; • Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in

the field of economic development; • Be required to set-up files, maintain files, prepare correspondence, and other clerical duties as

Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning, economics, business

administration, or a related field is preferred; • Four years responsible experience in economic development, mining sector, energy sector, tourism,

marketing or a closely related field, focusing on the attraction of new business opportunities is preferred;

• Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license; • This position is subject to drug testing. Salary: To be negotiated. Closing Date: Applications, consisting of a cover letter & resume with 3 references, must be received by
