From the Principal’s desk…
We had a beautiful day for the Athletics
Carnival last week, which was a nice change
from last year’s freezing day in June.
Congratulations to those students who
attended the carnival. It was great to see all
students participate in a variety of events. The
cheering and encouragement for other
students was amazing and is something our
students should be proud of.
We have Charles Sturt University Practicum
teacher, Grace Fixter here for the next five
school weeks. Grace is training to be an
Agriculture teacher and will spend most of her
time in the Year 7-10 classes. We know she will
enjoy her time at UCS.
Our new bubbler has been installed and is
looking nice and bright in the playground.
Students are able to use the bubbler only to
refill their water bottles due to COVID-19
restrictions. Hopefully they will be able to use
the entire bubbler soon.
In other exciting news, we now have an
industrial dishwasher installed in the Food
Tech room. This will be invaluable,
particularly for UCS YUM. To extend on this
exciting news, Breakfast Club and UCS YUM
will return next term. I know our community
members will be relieved to hear this!
Year 11 are currently sitting their end of Year
11 exams. They will then begin Year 12 in Term
4, with only four terms left at school until they
finish. Good luck Year 11!
We are currently seeking feedback from
students, staff and parents. The following link
will take you to our Tell Them From Me parent
survey:
http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/ungarie
Please take the time to fill in the survey as we
do not receive results if we don’t have the
minimum number of completed surveys
required. We are also randomly selecting
parents to take part in a survey. Our office staff
will ask five simple questions:
1. Are your children in primary, secondary or
both?
2. What are your hopes and aspirations for
your children when they finish school e.g.
uni, trade
3. What are two things you think we do well?
4. What are one or two things you think we
could improve on or add to what we do?
5. Is there anything else you would like to
add?
This is entirely confidential and the office staff
will not be adding names to the completed
surveys.
Until next week,
Terrie Payne

YEAR 5/6 PERSUASIVE TEXT – CEREAL BOXES
This activity was a great way for students to work together in creating something different that they can all be proud of. The painting is now displayed in their classroom. (Pictured left.)
Kindergarten and Year 1 have worked collaboratively to produce a progressive artwork. Students were given instructions to stand around the large table that was covered in white paper with a variety of different coloured paint pots in the middle. Each child was given one paint brush only to use throughout this experience.
The artwork started off with Mrs Tait giving the children instructions to paint a circle in front of them using whatever colour paint they liked. They then circled around the table and were given further instructions, for example, draw a circle inside the circle your friend has just painted, paint spots around the circle, paint a triangle with spots, and so on. After each instruction was completed, students moved to the next place at the table. They completed at least 5 laps of the table until there was no more space to paint.

On Thursday 10th September, it was great to
see the students involved in the Athletics
Carnival as they have had limited sporting
opportunities this year. The weather was
perfect and there was plenty of keen students
eager to participate in the track and field
events. The kindergarten students enjoyed
their first athletics carnival and the Year 12
boys, Josh Roscarel, Angus Williams and
Braden Payne were very competitive athletes
during their final school carnival. We all
appreciated the K/1 cheer squad, however,
we missed the support of parents and visitors,
due to the COVID -19 restrictions. .
Everyone competed with great enthusiasm
and displayed wonderful sportsmanship.
Congratulations to all age champions, and
Hannah Wilson and Angus Williams for setting
some new records.
