Reading
In reading this week, we're wrapping
up our Interpreting Characters unit!
We'll have an assessment testing the
students' knowledge on complex
characters and character change as
well as basic reading comprehension
skills that have been taught
throughout the unit. We'll end the
week with a celebration to reward
ourselves for all the had word we've
done in the unit!
This week in grammar, we're beginning a mini-unit on reviewing simple sentences
to remind students that every sentence has a subject (a noun or pronoun) and a
verb.
It'll be a review week in word study. We'll review the different ways to make nouns
plural... there are many! Most of the time, we simply add -s. Occasionally, we add -
es. Sometimes nouns are irregular and have different rules to make them plural.
There will be no need to complete the review at home because we will complete it
in class.
Writing
This week in writing, we're wrapping
up our realistic fiction stories. We'll
work on finishing and publishing our
stories! The students will take some
time to fine-tune their writing with
editing checklists, and then make
the effort to rewrite their pieces with
neat handwriting on fresh, new
paper.
